Grimes scales the trail that turns into nearly a wall. He gets to the edge of the cave and listens. All he can hear is the wheezing, whistling of the cave inhaling and exhaling on the thirty second cycle above the dull roar of the volcano, along with some drips of water.

He looks over the edge and it's all clear. The cave is very slick with moisture and goes deep.

Grimes - FIghter

Grimes will quickly climb to solid footing and uncoil the rope, looking for someplace to secure it to. If no place secure exists, he'll try to find footing, and hold it till someone else can come up and help him.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to attach the rope to because everything is so slick with moisture. You will either need to come up with a way of attaching it or brace while others climb.

The floor is slick and, if you go the bracing route, you will need to make a STR check and your "cargo" a DEX check to make it up, at least until more are able to assist with holding the rope.

Grimes

OOC: Okay, I've got a 17 str, so I should be able to bear a little weight. Grimes will try to hold the rope for one to climb, then we can hold it together for the successive climbers. Hopefully I don't fail and tumble. That would be BAD BAD BAD.

Grimes braces himself as best he can and calls down for someone to climb up. The rope goes taut and the gentle pull, pull, pull and creaking of the rope tells the halfling that he will soon be joined.

Grimes STR [1d20] = 15 It's difficult for his halfling feet to keep on the wet surface, but, although he slips a bit, he keeps the rope held.

Dieter grasps the rope and pulls himself up. He probably should have paid more attention in high school gym, had he gone to a school with a phys ed class, which he did not because he's a wizard and this isn't modern America. Dieter DEX [1d20] = 5 Dieter feels the rope slip a few times but holds on. He makes it over the edge and peers into the cave.

Now there are two of you in the cave. It breathes moisture like a mouth, inhaling and exhaling on its whistling regular schedule. Does Dieter help Grimes with the rope?

Who's next?

Dieter - Mage

Thanks Grimes! He will say with a slap on the shoulder. He produces his grapnel hook: Would this help secure the rope? If not, he will help with the next person coming up.

Einar, Thief

Einar spits on his hands and rubs them together vigorously before grasping the rope and making his ascent, "This'll be a easy with a rope".
