Redwall RPG??

Postby Blood axe » Sun May 08, 2011 5:25 am

I was just wondering if there is a RPG around like the Redwall novels?(Brain Jacques?) I would be great for a younger player who has read the books. Basically a fantasy game with the animals as races instead of Humans, Elves, Dwarves,etc.

Ive heard of using Ironclaw or Jadeclaw rules.

I also heard recently about a game called Woodland Warriors, which is based on a super stripped down version of Swords & Wizardry... Review here

Can't help that much, because I haven't read all of them thoroughly :) , but the PDFs I have include:

Bunnies and Burrows (but from what I remember, not exactly for kids and based on Watership Down);
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnies_%26_Burrows

Cat RPG - which is just based on cats and I don't think has a D&D kinda feel in that way - but I think it's a free download somewhere;

Mouse Guard, which is just mice, heroic mice though ;) ;

and Tales from the Wood RPG - which does have a variety of animals, it was hyped as the "woodland creatures RPG" IIRC.

Hope that helps a bit. I bet Tales from the Wood might be your best bet for kids.

I know of Bunnies & Burrows, thats strongly geared towards Watership Down. (rabbits) I just found Tales from the Woods too!
Woodland Warriors looks good- it has different animal types. Im just deciding on PDF or print. I really prefer a print copy- but then I have to wait...

I was actually plannin a B&B one-shot game for Easter, but didnt have the time.

I seriously appreciate the help!

Thanks! That actually looks pretty good.

I think Tales from the Woods and Woodland Warriors are from the same guy/company. I gotta double-check.

Let us know how it goes if you run a session! I've always had an urge to play a Watership Down type RPG!

It will probably be a Redwall- Nimh type game. (anthromorphic) But I will certainly contact you if I get something off the ground.
Woodland Warriors looks like what I need. Thanks for the help!!
