When I originally drew the map, they gave me an older color map with only half of the city on it to trace onto the vellum as a starting point. I think that's because it was from the time of the events in Return of the King where Sauron's forces held half of the city. The map that they gave me was either the half that the Orcs held, so that the adventurers could go orc hunting ala Gimli and Legolas, or it was the half of the city closer to Gondor that was still held by the men of Gondor, so that the adventurers could take part in the defense. Either way, I got to design the other half of the city which was fun. Overall, working on middle Earth stuff was a blast and very inspirational.
I had forgotten that this was a map of Osgiliath until I dug the old copies out of storage and then Googled the city names from the module on Google images. Low and behold, this map has already been copied all over the internet in various forms and resolutions (mostly poor quality). I hadn't realized when I drew it, the significance of the city of Osgiliath in the struggle for Gondor as depicted in Return of the King. Of course this map was from a time long before the sad state of the city in later times when it was abandoned and in ruins. The Tower Dome of Osgiliath, which is shown on the bridge on this map, actually fell into the river when the palantir was lost during the events of the Kin Strife civil war.
