Dieter will lob a fireball at Vera if there is little chance of hurting his comrades. Failing that he will toss it on the corner where it came from trying to catch it in the proximity blast.

Holy smokes, a fireball??? The room isn't that big. But Dieter is a mage with a rage. Or something...

INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 2 party [1d6] = 1 Vera and Fang have initiative.

Vera chooses Which one? [1d5] = 1 Grimes as her target, pointing her finger and hitting him with a Cone of Cold. Grimes Saving throw [1d20] = 15 makes his saving throw and takes only half damage, dmg [8d6] = 25 divided by 2 is 13.
Fang bites at Furuk Fang attack [1d20] = 20, dmg [2d4] = 5 with a critical hit that does max damage.
Dandy (charmed, I'm sure) attacks Which one? [1d5] = 1 Grimes with his hammer Dandeh! hammer throw [1d20+4] = 16+4 = 20, dmg [1d8x2] = 8x2 = 16 smashing the already injured halfling. Grimes ain't doin' well.

Deiter casts Fireball bhind Vera trying to catch her in the blast. The tiny ball of flamee grows as it launches from the wizard's hand and hits the room beyond, catching Vera but noone else. Vera Saving throw [1d20] = 4 fails her saving throw. Fireball damage [6d6] = 26
Castinus fires an arrow at Fang Castinus bow of doubling [1d20+3] = 18+3 = 21, [1d20+3] = 9+3 = 12, [1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 1 with both arrows making an impact.
Grimes goes melee against Vera Grimes Sword of Dismembering [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22, dmg [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3 and Vera loses an arm. And her life. The Ogre Mage is dead!
Furuk fights back against Fang Furuk attack Sword +1 [1d20+3] = 10+3 = 13, dmg [1d8+3] = 7+3 = 10. The dire wolf is on his last legs.
Einar tries to be sneaky Thief skill [1d100] = 21 and slips around behind Dandy, moving silently.

Grimes - Hurtin' halfing

Grimes, suddenly feeling very vulnerable, turns invisible, and will try to back away from Dandy's hammer, hoping his colleagues can neutralize him.

OOC: Dang. Survive a dragon only to get whacked by a charmed party member's hammer...

Morale [2d6] = 7 Fang is undeterred and, if anything, more incised. He again attacks Furuk Fang attack [1d20] = 16, dmg [2d4] = 3 again chomping through armor.

Grimes goes invisible less the halfing become a noling. Isn't he brave?
Dieter bravely puts himself in harm's way.
Castinus fires his trusty bow again Castinus bow of doubling [1d20+3] = 13+3 = 16, [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4, [1d6] = 6, [1d6] = 3 gravely injuring the dire wolf.
Furuk (autopilot) swings his sword Furuk attack Sword +1 [1d20+3] = 17+3 = 20, dmg [1d8+3] = 1+3 = 4 burying it deep into wolf hide. Fang is dead.
Einar (autopilot) prepares to backstab.
Dandy (autopilot) shakes his head as if trying to remove cobwebs. Wha? says the dwarf.

All enemies are dead and Grimes nearly so himself.

Grimes becomes visible and sheaths his sword. He looks at Dandy and winces, saying "you and your hammer pack a wallop. How about you toss some healin' toward your ol' buddy Grimes, eh?" He points a finger at Dieter and says "And you, mister... don't go steppin' in like that again. I appreciate it, but we can't afford to lose the likes of you. Thanks, though."

Grimes takes a good swig of booze to dull his pain and waits for (hopefully) some healing and looting.

Einar sheathes his blade and un-shoulders his bow. "I thought that was going to end poorly", he says looking from Vera to Dandy.

The young man makes his way to the door from which Vera appeared and gazes into the adjoining room.

Do we have any healing for Grimes? He will say approaching him. I couldn't let you fall without trying to intervene. He will say with a grin. After that he will search Vera.
