Just got the game - quick question

Postby narpet » Fri Sep 20, 2013 9:39 pm

Hi all,

I just got the book in the mail yesterday and I paged through it real quick... looks like it's going to be fun, but I had one question. From what I've read so far it looks like a classless system (which is fine), but the rules mention professions. Did I miss a list of professions somewhere or is it truly classless and you just come up with your own professions based on the type of game you're going to play?

Thanks,

You just come up with them on your own... But if I recall correctly, you're supposed to spend a minimum of one Skill Point on a skill that relates to the profession you desire.

That's what I figured... which works for me... I just wanted to check and make sure.

I'm looking forward to getting a game going with my group. Right now we're playing a Mutant Future campaign and having a blast. But I think I will use this for a "one off" game here and there with them.

Thanks for the info.

If I have 5 skills to start, I choose the Expert level in the profession I play, leaving me with 3 other skills at specialist level. I sometimes pick a profession based on my better ability scores but usually I have a background in mind explaining how I encountered a THING. That encounter almost always links-to my profession.

You make up your own profession...say detective for instance. Then you must have at least one skill that pertains/is appropriate to that profession. So in this example you could take something like Investigation.
