Grimes - Fighter

"Dieter, can you find a way to tell your boy here to go in and stand inside the doorway? Then Einar can peek in? He'll need to keep the door open too, so once we have the layout, we can bust in and clean house!"

Grimes smiles a nervous smile, flexing his muscles and clenching the hilt of his trusty short sword...

Dieter motions to Clarence what he wishes the darkling to do. Clarence dons the robe offered him and enters through the door. However, the communication was imperfect and he starts descending the stairs beyond the door immediately rather than waiting in the doorway.

Beyond him you see a huge dome, the largest yet, and it goes up as well as down. A few torches burn in sconces on the many pillars, which reach up toward the ceiling somewhere among the shadows. The chamber is a series of terraced rings descending to a pool of dark water in the center of the room. Each terrace is five feet below the next.

One long staircase descends from the wall where the middle dome intersects this chamber, all the way to the bottom level of the room. This is the main ceremonial access from where you are. Clarence is descending these stairs slowly. The staircase effectively creates a wall across each terrace. At the bottom, the stairs lead to a large block of stone sitting just inside the pool’s edge: the sacrificial altar.

Several robed figures scattered around the room hiss and sway. A red-robed figure stands near the altar, its feet in the water. The center of the pool gurgles with activity.

You see one that is not like the others: an elf being lead to the altar itself by two robed figures! Greenstar!

In the outer ring, there are four regular (green) lizardfolk (L1-4) dressed in robes like R’sstok had in his possession. On the middle terrace there are four normal Darklings (D1-4). In the lowest level there is a Darkling who is dressed like Clarence was before he put on the robe (DC). At the altar is the red-robed figure (HP). Greenstar is being lead down by two Darkling Acolytes (DA), one on either side of her. They are almost at the foot of the stair and near the altar.

(secret roll) For some reason, maybe because of the trance of the ceremony, they haven't noticed you yet. Time is of essence!

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes, seeing Clarence descending mutters "Aww, hell. Deiter! Make him help us retrieve the elf! Time for my suicide charge! Back me up, boys!" And with that, all safety and common sense are cast aside as Grimes charges through the portal, down the stairs, intent on rescuing the elf.

OOC: Grimes won't bellow his usual obscenities... yet. We'll enjoy the relative surprise for a few moments first.

Nice knowing you all...

Does Grimes have a specific target for his charge?

Probably one of the morons leading the elf. My main goal is to free her, lest they toss her in the middle. I'm hoping an invisible colleague can press the attack on the big fish at the bottom till I can get there...

Dieter - Mage

Clarence! He will yell to get the darklings attention. When he has it he will point to one of the darklings escorting Greenstar and then make the kill motion in an attempt to communicate "kill that one". After that he will cast continual light on the high priests eyes.

OCC: Spell deducted.

Furuk takes out the potion of Giant Strength from his inventory and quickly chugs it. He makes his way down the stairs as fast as possible and attacks the darkling captain with his sword.

Sacrifice!!!!

Party rolls for surprise (d6, 1, SUCCESS) The party surprises the baddies (of which there are many)

Dieter casts continual light on the red robed character (HP) blinding him.

Einar (autopilot) slips to the side of the stair and launches an arrow at one of the DA1 (d20, 18, HIT, dmg d6+1, 6+1=7) hitting him.

Dandy (autopilot) throws his hammer at the armor clad darkling at the bottom (DC) (d20, 17, HIT, dmg d8x2, 6x2=12) and hurts the bugger.

Grimes attacks the closer acolyte (DA2) (d20, 13, HIT, dmg d6+3, 3+3=6) and hurts him. Greenstone does not appear affected by his action.

Clarence also attacks DA2 (d20, 15, HIT, dmg d8+3, 6+3=9) and injures him some more.

Furuk quaffs his Potion of Giant Strength and closes the distance.

Image

(OOC: Remember, if you want Einar or Dandy to attack someone specific, please call that out as in "Dandy, throw your hammer at the guy with the mustache" or something)

Right now, Grimes and Clarence are clogging the stairway. Furuk will need to go around them (via terrace, and if he does, does he jump down terraces or use the stairs) or be blocked at this time.
