Descent Under the Temple of Elemental Evil

The party feels they have explored this level throughly enough and head down the grand staircase in the centre of the Temple.

A flight of steps, 20 feet wide and each step broad and tall, delves down to the north. The party descends, coming to a 10' landing and a pair of massive double doors which exactly duplicate those at the temple entrance, which you avoided, opting for a different entrance. These are sealed with soft iron, chained, padlocked, and likewise bear the silvery glowing warning glyphs.



The writing glows and seems to burn with silvery radiance, making your eyes teary.

Thurwin examines the doors and shrugs. "I'm afraid I don't possess the power to get us past these... whatever they are. Something about them makes me wary. Perhaps we should ascend and try the side stairway we found earlier." (The musty unused stair from the one side room - the one Thurwin took several steps down)

Thurwin chuckles lightly and says "Sorry. I wish I had an answer. These doors strike me as very powerful magics. Protective possibly, or some warding glyphs. I wouldn't want to tamper with them."

The party (wisely) moves to the east vestry and descends the stairway there.

It leads down into the dark (who has a light), leading to a long, east west corridor. There is an intersection and the corridor continues.

You come to a branch north: a double width passage. This passage is evidently one of importance, for it is plastered and painted with the evil scenes typical of the Temple.

Prowling down the hall west of you, towards you, you see five white humanoid creatures approaching! You've seen these before, beneath the moathouse: Ghouls!
