HUMAN/ALIEN

Postby Charlatan » Sun Mar 20, 2011 10:41 am

Hey, just a campaign idea I'm coming up with (as in right now) and I'd like some feedback!

Basically, Earth is left in a mess of battlefields and toxic waste, so everyone jumps ship and populates the galaxy! The twist is there are no aliens...except those other humans, since its been a while since people left Earth and people have been altering their DNA in order to survive or just because they can!

The Great Escape - The term for the exodus between 2455 and 2464, looked back on quite fondly really, as a time of unity between nations and adventure.

Earthling - Otherwise known as Pond-Scum, these are humans that were left on Earth after the Great Escape. They take great pride in having survived where the rest of humanity thought it impossible. Among them are vocal groups that believe they are the last true humans, but are rarely hostile, thinking of themselves as the elder siblings of the off-worlders. They obviously run the full gambit of race, and while some still cling to a lineage, the majority are five-ways mixed or more. In order to survive most wear specialised breathing apparatus outdoors, though some have simply mutated or have been gene-fixed at an early age to suit.
Their collective virtue is fortitude, their sin wrath.

Vessel classes: { these are just ideas so you can get a feel for the races }
Jonhy Tugboat
Red Herring - dangerous retro-engineered space racers
Heavy Metal Freighter
Scum-Barge - a mass of tugboats that are linked together for protection
Big Baby - a massive range of cannons with a pilot and a lot of gunners
Asteroid Chomper - a mining vessel that physically eats and digests raw material

Lunatic - First stop during the Great Escape, and Jump Point for the rest of the journeys, very few humans remained here, but those that did were invariably technicians, scientists and engineers. They are stereotyped as mad savants with strange humours, but they are as human (or indeed not) as the rest of humanity. The younger among them are usually tall and lithe, having been born and raised at in a lower gravitational field and always fair, even those of African descent having pale, if blotchy, skin. Lunatics are more likely to apply cybernetics than any other group.
Their collective virtue is focus, their sin hubris.

Vessel classes:
Blip - arrive in packs of twenty or more, have in-built A.I, function like a flock of birds
Duo-Pod
Frogger
Handyman - a large all-purpose robot controlled from afar by a cyborg, linked minds
Drop-Dome - a moveable building
Shimmer-Disk - a massive blip that displaces confusing lights

Martian - Frontiersmen and women that style themselves as the "Tomorrow People", they work hard, play hard and try to be the betters of their ancestors. Each city is designed with the modern world in mind, wider roads, taller buildings, just more than anything Earth had ever seen. Martians are huge on biological argumentation race, with anyone who can afford becoming a gene-fixed post-human and those that desire children try their best to pay for their child to be a designer-baby, indeed many save for years in order to give their child the best start in life. Race is a thing of the past, with rebellious youths altering their looks in any way they desire. There is a growing black market for back-door surgeries.
Their collective virtue is adaptability, their sin vanity.

Vessel classes:
Pawn
Knight - a bomber jet that mostly stays on Mars
Rook - fortresses covered in layers of "kinetic shielding", invincible?
Bishop
Queen
King - so large they move at a snails pace, perhaps only one per Martian country

Venusite - In 2568 a prophet named _ … monolith on Venus? live in floating/hovering zeppelins? Scarily calm people? Going Post-Post-Human to try and live in the acid atmosphere? Space-Chthulu!
Their collective virtue is temperance, their sin zeal/being creepy.

Vessel classes:
Honourable Firstmost Float - zeppelins designed to resist radiation and acid damage, not actually that good at it…
True High-Lotus
Forever Reach of God's Just Laws - a radiation bomber
Beautific Divine Temple
Celestial Transformation Chamber - a traveling church that gifts people with being turned into inhuman mutants
Righteous Protectorate from Pitiful Lessers - huge station that patrol the skies, stoping people getting in…and out

Drifters - Gypsies, cowboys and pirates in SPAAAAACE! Bound to like Earth more than Mars and Venus.

Vessel classes:
Spur
Sidewinder - fires metal slugs that dent ships, rather than pew-pew lasers
Evil-Eye
Shepherd - uses a traction beam to pull ships in
Sea-Bitch
Lonestar - a modified trick ship covered in guns

Isolates - Live space stations, each is different, poorer than the others, more likely to be actual humans.

Vessel classes:
Scout
Habitat Station - these stations could always be part of each other
Garden Station
Industrial Station
Watchtower Satellite
Overseer - ships manned soley by robots and A.I, that watch over the space station, possibly attached to it

What doya think?
Everything I say is true!
