G2 Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl recaps posted...

Postby Iguana » Wed Jan 26, 2011 12:55 am

I just created a blog called Tales from the Tower if any of you guys are interested in checking it out. Its mostly a place to post recaps for D&D/LL games both old and new. I just finished posting recaps from the various campaigns I've played in over the years in Scadgrad's game in Richmond VA from such modules as the Lost City of Barakus by Necromancer Games and the Temple of Elemental Evil by TSR among others. I'm also posting recaps from our current campaign set in his homebrew world of Averlorn using Labyrinth Lord Core Rules and AEC and his house rules. I will also be posting some campaign background information for Averlorn there for our current game group as well.

The blog is located here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/

This site is mostly just a place to post recaps for the RPGs I'm playing in and some campaign info but it will also serve as a place to post some of my game art. I did some layout illustrations for ICE back in the mid nineties for MERP, Rolemaster and Silent Death and also did some artwork for a couple of computer games put out by the Kesmai Corporation. Unfortunately, both companies are now out of business but I had fun working for them while it lasted. I will probably blog a little bit about other more general RPG related topics as well but the main focus will be on recaps, campaign info and artwork.

Cool, thanks for the compliment. If anyone wants to read that one it is located here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/01 ... false.html

I posted the link because it has already been buried on the second page by the multitude of recaps I have posted in the last week or so. I felt like a bit of background was in order to explain why I am playing Labyrinth Lord now and how much it reminds me of when I first started playing basic D&D and then First Edition as a kid. I also wanted to describe how I strayed away from my gaming roots and went to other systems and then recently came back to Basic/1st Ed because of the OSR movement and Labyrinth Lord. The blog isn't really intended as a place to reminisce about the good old days but I will post stuff from some of my first gaming experiences there from time to time. Its really just a place for me to share my RPG experiences with others and post game art and campaign info for our current game.

I just posted the latest recap from Scadgrad's Averlorn campaign here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/02 ... blind.html

Most of the recaps from the current campaign have been posted as well with the only exceptions being a couple of early modules we played in which haven't been written yet (B5 Horror on the Hill and Idylls of the Rat King). I'll post condensed recaps of those when I get a chance since those games took place a while ago.

Also, I haven't put the game art from ICE up yet but I plan to start doing that in the next week or two. I did post a teaser on the front page though - the black and white tower on the right side above the Labyrinth Lord logo is part of a set of tower plans I did for the MERP Dol Guldur module back in the mid nineties. It is an outpost watch tower or Lugash (an orc tower) of Sauron's Citadel of Dol Guldur. I'll post the rest of that one and more from that module and others once I get a chance.

Re: Tales from the Tower Game Art now up

Postby Iguana » Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:03 am

I just posted my first game art layouts from free lance work I did for Iron Crown Enterprises back in the mid nineties. I'll post more samples from time to time. Most of this stuff was for Middle Earth Role Playing but I did some work for the Rolemaster Books as well along with Silent Death space ship layouts. The art page is here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/p/game-art.html

And here is the first sample described in the previous post and on the blog:

Dude, post these in the Art or Mapping forum. I bet you've got some fans on here that you didn't even know about. Great stuff. :)

Re: Tales from the Tower: Tomb of Abysthor Recaps

Postby Iguana » Wed Feb 23, 2011 1:57 am

I just posted a series of recaps over at Tales from the Tower from Scadgrad's Braxus Campaign back in 2005 using C&C. This was when we first started our transition from 3.5 D&D to a more old school set of rules. The module is Tomb of Abysthor by Necromancer Games which was converted on the fly from 3.5 to C&C. This is the last of the series of older recaps that will be posted there. From this point on, the blog will focus more on recaps from Scadgrad's current World of Averlorn Labyrinth Lord campaign and will also feature more ICE game art that I did for them back in the day.

If you like reading recaps or are interested in this module give them a look but it does contain spoilers. This was a very cool module story wise and also very challenging from a gaming standpoint - the group's mortality rate was quite high. The recap links are listed below in the order that they were written:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/02/sorceress-of-abysthor.html

I'll post an epilogue next which will briefly describe our further adventures in the Tomb and subsequent completion of the module.

Re: Tales from the Tower: Tomb of Abysthor Recaps

Postby Iguana » Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:30 am

I just posted the Epilogue to the Tomb of Abysthor recaps detailing the defeat of the Cult of Orcus in the Tomb and susquent completion of the module here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/02/tomb-of-abysthor-epilogue.html

I have also added two more recaps from our current Labyrinth Lord campaign as well which can be found on the main site here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/02/of-wizards-towers-and-giant-beetles_1034.html
http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/02/wizards-tower-of-zingalis_27.html

and created a recap index page here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/p/rpg-session-recaps.html

I couldn't quite manage to keep the older recaps in the order that they occurred in real game time so this index helps to organize things a bit if someone wanted to read a series of recaps in order from start to finish like a continuous story.

Re: Tales from the Tower: Averlorn Campaign Recaps

Postby Iguana » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:41 pm

I'm back on the current campaign again and posted a recap from Scadgrad's 2/25/2011 Averlorn campaign session here:

http://iguanaslair.blogspot.com/2011/03/shrine-of-zingalis.html

I'm all caught up on the old recaps now so I'm only planning on posting recaps from the current campaign from this point on along with campaign background material, more game art and occasionally posts on my past gaming experiences.

19th Level Wizard Character Sheet from when I was a kid

Postby Iguana » Wed Mar 16, 2011 10:04 pm

I just posted the character sheets for my 19th level wizard that I played in the Monty Hall twenty level dungeon we explored when I was a kid over at the blog. I have also made some comments about how we used to play back then based on observations from the character sheets and a few recollections.

Check it out:
