Books of the Wastes

Postby Vigilance » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:44 pm

Hey guys, Vigilance Press has got another Mutant Future book on the way called Books of the Wastes.

As someone who loves books, I extra love finding them in PA games. Books of the wastes is a little (4 pages) book giving you several books to find and detailing their effects in Mutant Future terms.

Owning a book and having it for consultation will allow your character to use some new abilities, like repairing a vehicle or performing first aid. If you're smart and spend enough time with the book, you might even gain its benefits personally so you can pass it on to a friend.

Expect the book soon (in a day or so) and expect it to have a price of 99 cents.

Knowledge is Power!

One of my favorite aspects of the post-apocalypse genre is the idea of discovering what was lost and building a new future out of the ashes of the old. Books would be a key part of any attempt to rebuild the shattered world and they were always one of my favorite treasure items in PA games.

I also liked the idea of adding "feat like" abilities to Mutant Future but under the control of the game master. So rather than adding a skill/feat system that would make character creation take longer, allow the players to learn new abilities as they go. Of course, the players might not see the value in these strange new tomes and might just sell them on for some quick cash but such is life in the wastes. Books of the wastes is a Mutant Future book that will allow your character to acquire new abilities from pre-war books found in the Wastes.

Thanks!

Yeah, it was a little idea and rather than try and stretch it out, I just decided it made a nice little book, introducing the concept and allowing the GM to make more books that fit their campaigns.
