Effric, Druid

Effric casts entangle again when the leader breaks free and moves forward.

ooc: It seems we have nowhere to go other than out the front door (before it gets too hot to open) or into the tunnel. Ideas? Open the door and charge? Surrender and try to escape later?

Morgan smiles at Calmert's conviction. "You're right," he says, dropping his bow. Better to die on our feet outside then be roasted alive in here."

He'll try to open the door if the handle isn't too hot, and if Effric has not already done so. If the handle is too hot, or if Effric has already tried unsuccessfully, then he'll get a running start at the door and try to force it open or break it down.

"We shall see, good Caydon," Morgan replies.

OC: Using a crowbar to open a door that may be stuck makes much more sense than trying to bash it down. If you're a holy fighter in plate mail, however, this might not occur to you. :)

INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 1 party [1d6] = 3

Tavin remains at the top of the stairs, enshrouded in darkness, while Thurwin races below and to the secret tunnel. He gets to where it collapsed before he realizes that the darkness isn't following him. However, Tavin is still in a globe of darkness.
Calthas fires an arrow Calthas bow [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7 but it flies wide, probably due to heat from the fire causing an updraft.
Calmert calls others to action and asks for personal protection from St Cuthbert.
Morgan heads to the door but Caydon and Darryl get there first, Caydon applying his crowbar and Darryl his shoulder. The door breaks apart in a shower of sparks and burning wood. Caydon save vs. petrify [1d20] = 13 dmg [1d8] = 5 Darryl save vs petrify [1d20] = 6 dmg[1d8] = 8 Caydon leaps aside, getting a glancing blow from a piece of the door but a larger piece hits Darryl who collapses instantly as a fiery log hit him square.
Effric, with a clear view of the outdoors, calls the weeds again to entangle his enemies, and Saving throw [1d20] = 4 the man in plate is held fast by the new growth! The others, who haven't attempted to move from their spots, are not more affected by the effect.

The spell caster waves his hands and who [1d4] = 2 Toto Saving throw [1d20] = 10
freeze in place. arrows [1d20] = 7 [1d20] = 2 [1d20] = 12 The archers fail to hit their targets.

The doorway is open and the fire there no longer a factor, as bits of the door burn on the stone floor, igniting the off bit of straw or dry leaves but that's it. The roof smolders as well. Darryl lies lifeless in the doorway.

Thurwin - Wizard

Once Thurwin realizes the globe of darkness isn't centered on him, he reverses course and heads to the door, following the others. As he sees the darkness (but unsure of who it's centered on) he says "Hey! Maybe if you charge at them with the darkness, make them affected by it to. They'll either dispel it, or have to deal with it!"

OOC: That's all the ideas I've got. Run at them with the darkness, make them deal with it or dispel it.

Effric, Druid

Seeing the leader helpless, Effric will run outside and attack him with his scimitar. He grabs Toto and urges him along to do the same.

CALMERT: Cleric
Whispers to Caydon, "Stay close, friend! You've been hurt, and if these infidels cause you more harm I'll petition St. Cuthbert to help you!"
Seeing the door smashed open in a sparkling display of embers, Calmert rushes the leader.
