An examination of the windows suggests that they are high and too narrow to permit passage to a man in armor. Each is barred and spiked with bronze.

The doors look bashable. They are locked and barred, but the locks look pickable.

To clarify: The main doorway is the south facing one in the map. It is covered in the eerie runes. The two side doors, one facing east, the other west, are opposite each other. All doors are in the south side of the huge structure.

Question: do the other doors have runes on them as well (resembling the first one we tried?) The rune doors scare me. I'd rather bash a window and crawl in...

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin says quietly "Caydon, can you see what you can do with one of these side doors? Perhaps a quick listen first to make sure nothings on the other side."

OOC: Do the doors look like they get any regular use?

Morgan waits for Caydon to assess the door. He flexes his muscles involuntarily, preparing to do some bashin'.

OC: Do paladins engage in bashin'? Maybe I should say, striking down in the name of justice. ;)

Tavin stays alert on guard for any sign that their presence is detected from inside.

OCC: Paladin's have license to go nuts at evil temples. :)

Effric, Druid

"Let me see what I can do."

Effric will stand at the southwest door and cast warp wood on the area surrounding the lock. Hopefully he can get it to pop open.

Calthas finds no secret passages. He's about to report such to the others when the lock pops at Effric's spell. The warped door opens a hair and then is stuck due to the warping (think wood door in humidity). A good shove should open it, and does. It opens inward to a large vestibule, 60x60 feet.

The floor of this area is reddish brown slate-like stone squares, each about 2 feet square. The walls are plastered and painted with scenes befitting the nature of the Temple—disgusting acts, killing, torture, enslavement, robbery, thievery, and unspeakable things. The creeds of the worshippers here are all too evident. Evil is flaunted and lionized. Dim light filters through the stained glass windows, casting revolting colors upon the greenish stones of the floor to the north.

In that direction you can see the nave of the Temple. The pillars to either hand are of a pinkish mineral, shot through with worm-colored veins. Their arches lead to an unremarkable pair of lesser side aisles. The columns supporting the archways, as well as the arches themselves, are worked in bas relief. As with the frescoes in the entryway, the scenes here are ineffable, vile, filthy. It is probable that this area was reserved for the lowliest of worshippers. The area beyond is better lit and more open, though it also has more of the nauseating pinkish pillars supporting the roof high overhead.

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin glances at his brother with a disgusted look and says dryly "Horrible place. Too bad we don't have the power to raze it to the ground." He looks about and says "Shall we investigate further? Perhaps toward the nave areas?"

OOC: Let's see if we can find anything of interest or some signs of recent use.
