The night passes uneventfully. The Instant Fortress is nearly as comfortable as the Inn back in Bissel.
When you wake the next morning, you pack up the horses and then exit the Instant Fortress, waiting for Dieter to say the word that opens the door. When you've all quit the building, he says another word of power and the fortress collapses back into a metal cube, which the mage then pockets.
You continue on the trail. Within a few miles of riding... encounter [1d20] = 16 a war party of hobgoblins attacks from the northwest, racing down the steep hills towards you. There appear to be nearly eighty of them: a chief barking orders, two lieutenants making sure they are followed, and the rest attacking with polearms, spears, and hand weapons, with a large group readying arrows!
