Castinus feels inside the Bag of Tricks. Within the fur-lined, leather bag he feels a small ball of fur. It's warm to the touch, like the flank of a horse. He pulls it from the bag and it sits in his hand, like a tiny ball of fur. Dropping it on the ground, it changes shape quickly, growing into a animal [2d8] = 10 buffalo before Castinus' very eyes. The huge beast nuzzles the thief for a bit.

The air is cool, the sun setting. The sounds of cicadas fill the air and no other sound is heard. The burial mound has no obvious entrance. You are at the base of a low, flat topped hill, about 200 yards wide and 300 yards long. Only ugly weeds, thorns, and briars grow upon the steep sides and bald top of the sixty-foot high mound. There are black rocks upon the top of the hill, which looked like the skull face as you descended.

Castinus steps back in shock as the buffalo materializes in front of him. "What in the nine hells?" he asks. He then resigns himself to being nuzzled for a few moments before pulling away.

"So, how do we get in?" he muses. He'll start investigating the mound for secret doors, beginning right where we are, and working clockwise. Er, sundialwise, that is. Clocks probably haven't been invented yet. :)

Dieter - Mage

Arching an eyebrow at the buffalo: Heh!

Not sure how to gain entry either... Dieter will start to hunt about also looking for any potential portal.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes hungrily eyes the buffalo and says with a hint of seriousness: "He looks tasty." As visions of cooking meat fill his head, he says "Maybe we lead this buffalo around the hill and perhaps he'll find the entrance. Fall in, ya know?"

Grimes smiles and shrugs, adding "Or we could just eat him now."

Dandy, Dwarf Cleric

Dandy is not feeling the slightest bit hungry. Just anxious.

"Let's be gettin' this over with!"

Dandy will walk the perimiter of the hill and stones looking for any entrances.

The party searches. The sky grows redder as the sun dips. Then three things happen, nearly simultaneously:

Dandy, searching the perimeter, finds what could be an entrance, although it will take a bit to open it up. It would require the movement of a large boulder: doable but will take effort.

Castinus is luckless in his sundialwise search, but his new bison steps into something that appears to be another entrance. The big lug takes some time to extract, but his large size means that this entrance would be slightly easier to clear.

Dieter hunts almost randomly. His new staff prods the sod. Midway up the hill, his staff suddenly slides in nearly taking the mage with it. The dry, matted grasses and underbrush would take some time to clear, but it could very well be an entrance.

As evening turns to night, you have three choices before you and some work to do in clearing them.

Actions?

OOC: Great idea, badams. That was the plan as soon as I saw what creature emerged from the Bag. :)

Dieter - Mage

Not sure which one we should use.... none appeared to be used recently. Maybe we should just try for the path of least resistance? I think the one Castinus found would qualify.

Furuk - Fighter

"Since it's getting late, we should try to investigate the entrance Castinus found. "

Furuk joins Castinus in managing the bison and helping to clear the entrance.

OC: Did the bison fall into a pit? Walk into a doorway and now cannot back out? I'm confused.
