The Last American

It's a brief tale about Persian explorers in the year 2950-something exploring the ruins of New York and Washington about a 1,000 years after the fall of the American civilization. It's certainly a political and social satire but it's a quick and enjoyable read for fans of the post-apocalypse. The most interesting aspect of it of course is it was written in the late 19th century. It offers a decidedly non-modern look at American culture and it's ruin.
