As the cultist is watching for you, he is unsurprised at your appearance (although upset you knew he was there).

Initiative party-d6, 3 Badguy-d6, 4 Badguy wins initiative

The cultist throws the torch at the approaching half-orc and paladin. (d20, 7, MISS) The torch hits the shield of the holy avenger and extinguishes as it ricochets off, hitting the oil with a *fzzzz*.

Furuk swings his sword (d20, 19, HIT) slicing the cultist. The blow is mighty (d8, 8+1+2=11) and the blade passes right through the evil man who drops dead in an instant.

He was working alone, no other cultists are in sight. The corridor dead-ends just to the south of the bend, going only 30' until there is just rock.

A search for secret doors reveals nothing. Headed back to where you came, you discover the oil puddle aflame. It is dying and will be out in just a few minutes. The black smoke is thick and acrid but the magic user's light cuts through it and there is enough room to breathe.

What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

The party heads northward to the next intersection.

There is light as from a torch flickering to the north beyond the bend. The party is at the red X.

Furuk peeks around the corner and waits to see if the light appears to move closer. He tightens the grip on his sword in anticipation of more cultists.

Anadrea

Follows behind the party in the rear rank. She is longing for the forest and fresh air

(secret roll) Deiter notices nothing unusual about the floor, walls or ceiling.

Furuk peeks around the corner. He can see the light as if from a torch in the first passage to the east. It flickers but doesn't appear to be moving.

Anadrea's desires are noted...
