I'd also make it curable with Heal and possibly Cure Serious Wounds or better.

The characters in my Darves Hill game are starting to look like freaks. One lost an eye, another has lost several fingers, etc. For me most of that stuff is just flavor for the character, and I don't really penalize them for that with actual mechanics. When they go into town the shop keepers do tend to ask them what happened to their missing body parts though. :)

Missing an eye is more serious than a finger. Id give a -1 hit with missiles- loss of depth perception.
