Grimes - One Bad Halfling

Grimes quickly moves to finish off Bars. "I remember this cat telling us that our paths would likely part ways once this was over, and it looks like it's the truth.". Once Bars is deceased, grimes will rifle the bodies of all because he wont get stuck in the webbing.

Bars dies by the blade, as he lived.

Grimes is able to recover 2 sets of leather armor, short bows with full quivers, daggers and short swords from the two associates of Mr Tolvik. From Tolvik himself, there is some sort leather armor festooned with runes (+1), a fine long sword and a potion. They are also carrying 12 gold pieces and fifteen coppers.

On the table you find a crudely drawn map of the labyrinth level above you, with notes for traps, both existing and new ones. There are also notes on how they were planning on running their bit of organized crime from here. There are other notes in a language you can't read (none of you can read it). There are also a few names you recognize, including Sir Taris himself and Master Gint Grüber, as well as the Pikeman. All mentions of them are with notes that are unreadable to you. however, so you cannot tell if they are associates, people having been bribed, targets for assassination or anything else.

You are getting tired, even though the battle was short, you've been travelling long. You should rest soon, here or elsewhere. With the load you carry, the travel back to Wolford from Skull Mountain will take a day and a half, most likely.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes nods at the haul and says "At least this fella won't be pillaging the countryside. Can't say he's less bad than the lizards, just different." Grimes hands the paper to Dieter and says "Can you stash this? Not sure what's on it, but if it's some scandalous stuff, it may be worth something to us, or a tidy sum to someone ON the list. Okay fellas, let's find a place to rest and then make our way outta here tomorrow."

Grimes will ask Furuk and the two lackeys to help drag the bodies out and stash them behind the curtain or someplace inconspicious. We'll stow Bars' gear out of plain view. If we happen to run into more of his turds, we can bluff if needed.

Let's make camp!

Dieter - Mage

Dieter will put the papers in a scroll tube and then help hide the bodies. Slow going it is... with a smile. Dieter will then find a good place to sleep with his back to the wall.

OCC: Sheet updated with "the Tolvik papers".

The party sleeps through the night with the usual watch schedule, (secret rolls) undisturbed. If anyone misses Bars, they don't show it by coming to look for him.

You wake refreshed. Even the henchmen seem to have a bit more spring in their step. Maybe it's because you're so close to the surface, who knows.

The map Bars left helps you navigate the labyrinth without incident. You get up to the "skull" part of the cave, ready for someone from Bar's group but no one is on watch there. Furuk even checks the "eyes" but finds nothing.

You finally exit the cave and into the outdoors. Everyone, even the Dwarf who was most at home below, seems thrilled to be back in the outside world. Deep breathes and smiles are all around. Although it's been only a week or so since you re-entered the Skull, it feels much longer since you breathed the clean air of the outdoors. The air is fresh and wonderful. You can hear birds chirping and animal movement in the nearby forest: sounds that were completely absent and sorely missed deep below the earth.

It seems your internal clocks were screwed up inside. It's been hours since you arose and began your march and time for lunch, but you see the sun is merely a sliver on the horizon. It's early morning out here.

You hike up the hill and through the woods, carrying Einar's body and the loot. Your henchmen don't know this area, so they don't appear to be from Wolford. Apparently they were kidnapped from elsewhere. That huge cavern seemed to have many tributaries, and you can't help but wonder where they all lead.

By late afternoon you finally breach the woods and into the prairie beyond, where you fought brigands before. There are no brigands now and even the blood of the battle is mostly gone. At this pace you have almost than a day's journey back to Wolford, unless you find a wagon on the way.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes hugs the first tree he sees, his mood now noticably lighter. "Whew. Glad to be out of that mess. If I never see another underground cavern, it'll be too soon."
Grimes goes up to our porters and smiles saying "Well, men. Looks like you've made it! Where are you from, anyway? As I promised, once we get to where we are headed, I'll give you a handsome wage for your help. My only regret is that Gatto, Greenstar and Wulfric didn't make it out." Grimes shakes his head, thinking about his pal Wulfric, then he says "Well fellas, let's press on hard today, then perhaps camp just outside town and enter fresh and rested in the AM?"

OOC: Grimes thinks entering during the daytime might be good versus trying to lug a bunch of treasure inside at night when all the miscreants are out. Perhaps we could pause outside the city, and a couple could go in to get a wagon to haul this in with. That'd draw much less attention. What do you think?

Dieter - Mage

Taking big gasps of air. Ahhhh.... tis good. Yes, going into town and getting a wagon would probably be a good idea. Keep things under wraps if you know what I mean. It would be great to learn some new majicks with this loot.... Dieter ponders to himself.

OCC: Sleep spell re-learned.

As you trek across the prairie, dusk falls and it is soon close to dark. You know the road shouldn't be far from here, perhaps another half-hour's journey. The body and treasure is really slowing you down and even Karl and Theo are too tired to complain, hauling as much as they are.

(secret roll)

You see a small band moving towards you in the dark and by the time you notice them they've noticed you. A small pack of orcs, six in number, lead by pair of ogres, decide that you are easy pickings. They attack!
