Meringered keeps quite the whole time. Having no horse of his own he is not very much concerned by Loshad's demand in this regard, however the prospect to coldly kill a mother and his child -- however monstrous they are -- gives him pause. He winces when he hears the last answer from Athelstan.

OOC: happy Halloween!

"Very well," Loshad replies. "You can find the werewolves on this side of the river. Look for an outcropping of rock about an hour's tr--ride," he chokes on the last word, "past the fork in the river. There is a cave entrance near the top. You may not see it in the dark, but my brethren will surely catch the scent."

Loshad regards you solemnly. "You are most likely too proud to take my advice, but I shall give it just the same. Your best chance is to attack during the night, when most of the pack is out hunting. You can lay an ambush for them upon their return. Farewell."

With that, Loshad and his retinue gallop off into the night.

Actions?

Harn, worried he has no weapon that can harm a magical creature, looks over the red axe they found.

Soldath - Mage

Okay... we just went from a mother/son pair to a pack... just gets better, huh? Remembering the Lost Temple of Thanatos he figures it can't get any worse.

Athelstan - FIghter

To Meringred and Soldath he smiles and gestures to Harn, Tethir, and big ol' Jorg and says "Don't worry - look at this bunch of hardened warriors. We'll make short work of these curs, and set a trap for the others. A pack of dogs will not stop this band. Now let's get moving."

Harn, the red battle axe is covered in several coats of paint, and reeks of goblin sweat. Lifting it up, you can't help notice its weight, about half what you'd expect. You give it a few practice swings. Despite its appearance and odor, it slices through the night air, coming to life in your hands. It does require two hands, though, so you won't be able to use it with your shield +1 (a fact the DM has previously neglected to take into account. :? )

On the bright side, Meringered could always use your magic shield for shield-bashing. Not exactly old-skool, but the absence of it in the rules makes its inclusion completely old-skool! :D

Congratulations, Harn, you now have a battle-axe +1.

Soldath, don't be fooled by your hazy memories of the Lost Temple of Thanatos. Things can always get worse...

The action continues in Chapter 7. Loshad's Bargain.
