Zavenorrin stands to the side and slides off the other plaque. Inside is an identical recessed cavity in the stone wall. Peering inside the recessed cavity you find a large 6" long skeleton key that appears to be made of solid brass. The etching/writing on this plaque does not appear arcane in nature as the other one did. No further secret compartments can be found within the cavity.

What would you like to do next?

Zavenorrin slowly gets hold of the skeleton key and examine it. He also looks around for a keyhole in which it could fit.

Immalor, Elf

Immalor ponders the situation while assisting to look for any type of key hole. "If we do not find an obvious place for this key, perhaps we should destroy this statue? It is brittle and may be concealing a key hole in the slab below."

Turin, curate of Sif

This statue unsettles me. I think destroying it might be a good idea, but beware of foul magics.

You look around in earnest but find no keyhole in the room.

The statue of the ageing man appears quite brittle and even seems to be slowly crumbling on its own :o as you investigate this room.

Gorlan, Cleric, temporary NPC looks to the group attempting to sound valiant, "Well methinks the other plaque seemed arcane in nature to the Elves amongst our delving party. Perhaps that holds the true 'key'?"

Looking at the creepy transformation of the statue, Zavenorrin suddenly turns to his companion and declares: "I say, either we do something with this statue, or we leave this place. I don't see the point in waiting for a cursed spell to be cast on us!"

Turin, cleric

Something indeed! says Turin. Throwing caution to the wind, he bashes the statue with his mace.

Turin smashes the already crumbling statue to the ground reducing it to rubble as others look on.

Meanwhile - Gorlan Cleric of Modi (temporary NPC) further studies the 2 plaques in the room. An idea comes to him, He looks at plaque A and reads the words etched on it aloud, "Read this & weep" and a small tear can be seen running down the holy man's cheek.

Suddenly the sound of grating stone can be heard. You look down to see the black stone floor slab in front of the ruined statue sliding slowly to the right. When it is completely aside your torchlight reveals a 5' x 10' rectangular hole in the floor.

Peering down into the darkness you see a stone shaft leading down into further depths. Iron rungs can be seen on the west wall of the shaft. All is eerily silent. You cannot see the bottom.

Zavenorrin slowly brings a torch near the newly uncovered hole to check if he can see where it leads. "Well done, holly man. I reckon this can very well be a trap, but this is probably as good a way as another to reach our destination..." he says to Gorlan. "What do you say, all? Shall we try to climb down?"

Turin, cleric

I've never seen a man weep on demand before. Let's head down, says the cleric
