Father Redmond will attempt to freeze the creature in paralyzing laughter with Hold Person ((-2 to the ST since it is target at a single creature)).

The party holds back while Fr Redmond casts his spell.
The owl bear hesitates as the prayer to the cleric's god takes effect Save vs Spells [1d20] = 20 but the beastie shakes off the spell! He rises to a full eight foot height and screeches mightily!

"We will not reason with such a creature," Effric says. He will get as close as he can to the left/east wall while still being out of range of the owlbear. He then casts obscuring mist.
"Quickly and quietly, stay close to the left wall and we can run past this creature!" Effric whispers to his companions. As he talks he throws some rations onto the floor (ooc: away from us and the mist cloud, to the west).
