Jarek - thief

"Of course!" says Jarek, smiling broadly and stepping between Pyotr and Tret. "My friend here was just confused for a moment." He leans closer to Pyotr, half-whispering to the man. "Poor fellow took a nasty knock on the head a few days back and... well... he's not really 'all there' right now. He's still capable in a fight, but just about everything he says is gibberish and nonsense. Sad, really. The others think his condition will improve, but I'm skeptical."

In a louder voice, he continues: "Lead on, Pyotr. I should like to see the battlements for myself."

Athelstan - Fighter
Athelstan gazes at Tret, then Renardius (with the "what the hell have we gotten ourselves into" look), and shakes his head, sighing....

Tret, rogue

Confused. "Your brother is the horse guy?"

Turns to his partner in crime. "Jarek, this guy's brother was the horse guy? I thought he hired us to get horses, not fight goblins and everything. Do we get combat pay for this?"

Turns back to Pyotr. "We are getting combat pay for this, right? Stephan mentioned escorting horses, he didn't mention being under siege."

Turns back to Jarek. "Another fine mess you've gotten me into."

Muttering to himself. "I can't believe we got hoodwinked into this. First the only work we can get is horse trading and now the only work we can get is shooting goblins from windows..."

Jarek - rogue

Jarek flashes a nervous smile and speaks quickly and quietly to Tret. "Easy, Tret, I'm with you on this, but let's see how it plays out. If we make a fuss, these people may very well throw us out on our asses. If it came to that, I doubt any of our companions would care to join us. I don't like the idea of being pressed into service like this, but I like the idea of you and me having to face those goblins outside on our own even less."

Tret, rogue

"Good point, Jarek. I guess I should just keep my trap shut until I can make money with it spinnin yarns."

He smiles sheepishly at Pytor, hoping that there are no hard feelings.

"Let's get upstairs to that room with a view. I've got some goblins to kill."

Biz: MU

Bizenghast is shy, but smiles and stays quiet to herself... wondering what to do about the mob of goblins outside.

Soldath - Mage o' Doom

Yes Pyotr we are here to herd the horses. You brother sent us up river with the dwarf ferryman. We spent last night at Misha's landing but I think Misha has met her demise. Tret has a black sense of humor and his words should not be taken at face value. At this point whether we want to help or not I think we are committed. Now lets see those battlements and how bad the situation is. Gesturing toward the stairs.

"Yes, we ARE here to help you. Be it escorting horses, or killing goblins, we will see you through this mess. Let's see the battlement, we need to make our plans."

Uh oh! Looks like Tret's voice carries farther than everybody elses...

You're standing in the gallery overlooking the main hall when the question of payment comes up. A door opens, and out walks Darya, Pyotr's wife. You can hear Masha in the other room still crying. The lady of the house walks up to Tret, her face quivering with rage.

"Paid?" she hollers, striking the thief across the face. "Paid!? Two of my clan have paid with their lives. My son and daughter-in-law were keeping watch for you. If husband's terms are not to your liking," she says, pointing out an open window, "then you can spend night in forest. See what kind of offer you get from goblins! Forget dawn! You cowards wouldn't last till midnight."

She spits on Tret's boots, turns on her heel, then storms back into the bedroom, muttering it Traladaran. The door slams shut behind her.
Get thee to the dungeon. Get thee to the dungeon forthwith. Pass not the barbican. Amass not 200 GP.
