Draw a picture, get a supplement -- Closed for new entries

Postby sniderman » Sun Sep 29, 2013 2:14 am

Hi gang,

Taking my cue from last year's Deviant Database art solicitation, I'm opening up art submissions for "One Year In The Savage AfterWorld."

Image

Without giving too much away, the supplement is a collection of 52 Mutant Future mini-adventures that could be run over a few hours for a weekend group. (Hence the "One Year".) The supplement can be used for pick-up games, side quests, convention one-shots, etc. 52 post-apocalyptic one-page dungeons, as it were. The book is written and edited, and now I just need help with some general illustrations. Below is a list of art pieces that give a good cross-section of the book. Anyone who supplies a piece of art gets a PDF of the finished book. Provide three or more and I'll happily supply a print version as well as the PDF to you. All artists retain rights to their work and will receive full credit in the book. I don't even need professional artists either. Any good-faith effort will be fine, though I do reserve the right to say No Thanks. For more information, read the post from the Deviant Database art solicitation from last year on how this worked.

And here's a list of the art suggestions I'm in need of:
Situational illustrations:
An abandoned gas station
Black ooze rises from a pit
A Mansquito floats down to attack
Morningstar plants swinging their flails
Army cyborg with a flamethrower
A giant man (15’) smashes a building
A hooded figure rides a giant ant
Mants stand guard outside a giant anthill
Looking down at a small secluded ranch in a valley
An armed cockroachoid
A rickety boat sailing on the sea
A house wrapped in vines
An abandoned bowling alley
A classic zombie attack!
A post-apoc survivor wearing a baseball batting helmet
Two four-legged mule-like robots
An abandoned supermarket
Looking down at a child trapped in a basement
Vines growing all over a small grove
Trees made of glass crystal
A hawk-man flies overhead
Dinosaurs!
Everyone in a village is asleep
A unicorn at the foot of a waterfall
Giant scorpion
A post-apoc casino
A torn old movie poster
A medical regen tank
Giant tarantula attack
An abandoned amusement park
A fishman pokes around a ship’s hold
A train-like armored military vehicle crosses the desert
A lidded well in the middle of a field
An abandoned library
A humanoid mass attacks
Tall trees with flying jellyfish hover nearby
A skeleton lays next to a tree

EDITED TO ADD: Keep in mind, for these "situational illustrations," I don't need landscapes and "big picture" artwork. The ideas posted here are to give you an idea of the scene to be illustrated. So, for an abandoned supermarket, an overturned grocery cart or a pile of cans would be good. "Dinosaurs!" could be the head of a roaring T-Rex. I'm looking for spot-art for the adventures rather than "this is what the scene looks like" sketches, if that makes sense...

Creature illustrations:
Glass Plasm – Looks like Living Water rising out of a lake or pond
Nanomite Swarm – Looks like smoke (made up of microscopic robots)
Great White Gull – A sea gull with a shark’s head
Fear Feeder – A frightening shadow on a wall
Corpse Owl – An undead rotting owl
Ayteeum – A horned rabbit that looks kinda lizardy too
Luminion – A humanoid made up of light and energy
Ligreemen – The classic alien “greys”
Crimson Cinder – A humanoid made up of fire and smoke
Shroombie – A zombie with mushrooms and toadstools growing all over him

Feel free to ask questions in this thread or email me at gameagain at gmail dot com. If you'd like to claim something, give me a shout and I'll mark it as yours. If you need clarification on any of the concepts, drop me a line. Thank you!

Any takers on this so far? I'm thinking of giving a go at some of these if the option is still open.

I assume you are looking for black and white or grey scale images? I usually do watercolours so that is an option too.

http://thewayoutwest.co.uk/detail_adder.asp?BlogID=132 could this be the origin of the Great White Gull? I found it while I was doing a reference search for shark head.

Yeah, this offer was made a month ago. The artwork has been rolling in and the project is nearing an end. Sorry.
