"Yeah, let's try to open this door." suggests Calthas

The party heads back to the room and sets to work on the door. Between the strength of the fighters and the thief's crowbar, the door is finally forced open. The bar on the outside clatters to the floor and you all shove forward.

The door opens northward, swinging west. The walls herein are hung with tapestries and rugs, and the floor is covered with several layers of carpets. A pair of bronze lamps light the place, suspended on chains from the ceiling. A brass brazier on a tripod makes the room both too warm and too stuffy from the smoke of incense. A divan, small table, two chairs, and a cupboard stand along the east wall. A large armoire with side drawers stands by the west wall. The table holds a silver flask, several ceramic dishes and cups, and some foodstuffs — fruit, shelled nuts, and sweetmeats — all of which are upset and spilled. The smell of brandy is strong where the flask has released its contents on the table.

On the north wall is a tapestry that has been partly pulled down. Behind the large tapestry on the north wall is a four-foot-wide archway leading to a 10' x 20' alcove. Two hanging lamps illuminate the area. A pillow-strewn bed is here, as well as a small desk and padded chair, a brass stand with several staves in it, a low table, two stools, and a wardrobe. A fountain in the southeast corner trickles a stream of clean water into a wall basin. The walls and floors are draped and carpeted.

The tapestries on the northern wall cover two narrow archways. The easternmost leads to a closet-like space where pegs hold ceremonial garb, including a brown velvet cassock upon which are embroidered triangles of gold thread with stones in the pattern illustrated.

The westernmost archway is shrouded in darkness.

Effric, Druid

Effric speaks with animals and sends Sly quietly into the westernmost alcove, to reconnoiter.

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin helps search the area for anything in drawers or concealed, and he waits for Sly to report back before he heads to the Western area. "Let's search this area well before we go west. This looks like it might have been our buddy Romag's area, judging from the accomodations, I think."

Effric pets Sly and feeds him some ration morsels while listening to his tale. "Sly informs me that beyond the darkened arch is a closed chest, and an open door to the left that is ajar - as if someone exited in haste."

Morgan smiles at Effric's report, and then joins his companions in a careful search of the rooms.

Thurwin - Wizard Deluxe

Thurwin pats his brother on the shoulder and joins in the search. "Careful, everyone. Caydon? Can you check about this place for any nasty business such as traps and bad things?"

The party searches the rooms thoroughly.

The southern room: The 15 carpets and rugs strewn about the place have little value. The silver flask on the table is worth 40 gp, and held good brandy but that is now spilled, there is but a drop left in the vessel. The wardrobe contains several worthless garments, a pair of sandals and pair of boots, and a normal mace. The side drawers hold linens, towels, and the like. The lowest drawer on the left side holds incense and unguents.

The northern room: The desk contains a bottle of normal ink, 6 quills, and 10 sheets of parchment, but nothing of great value. On the low table is a small tome detailing the sacrifice of humans to earth elementals. The wardrobe contains old clothing, a bag holding nine candles, and two bottles of very fine white wine (worth 2 gp each). The brass stand holds two walking staves and a quarterstaff.
