Skull Mountain: The Shrine

Postby greyarea » Tue Sep 13, 2011 1:39 pm

The party heads down the tunnel to the level below. It is dark for a while but then you see light shining ahead. As you approach, it is apparent that these is light seeping from around a door ahead. When you get to the door, its construction from the tunnel side suggests that it is a secret door on the other side. You see no flickering of the light under the door nor hear any sounds from the room beyond it.

Anadrea

Waits for our resident burglar to check it out and readies herself from the rear rank to enter with bow still out. She will also keep an eye out behind the group

"I think we are gaining on them." she says to noone in particular

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Einar, human Thief

Assuming the door opens by swinging in, Einar attempts to pull it open. He does not immediately pass through the portal, but instead looks into the room on the other side.

The door swings open at the rogue's touch. You look from the secret door in the eastern wall.

The room is empty of people and there are closed doors in the middle of both north and south walls.

A brightly glowing, egg-shaped stone, sitting on the corner of the central desk, lights this room clearly. A long workbench runs along one wall directly in front of you. There are five large holes in a row cut through the surface of the bench, with a bucket sitting underneath each. A set of brass scales stands atop. Three empty sets of manacles hang from the opposite wall. In the center of the room is a stool and the writing desk, with paper, quills, and ink vials on it.

Dieter

Dieter will proceed into the room carefully making his way to the desk. He will take a look at the papers in the desk.

The papers are blank but there is a drawer that is ajar on the desk. Inside you find a scroll case with a sheet of paper with writing on it. It appears to be a list written in the same language that was on the chalkboards you found in the room above. Maeglin translated those but he is no longer with you to translate this.

Dieter

Dieter will take the sheet of paper with writing and put it in his scroll tube. He will then take a closer look at the light source on the desk. Could this be a place of torture?

Occ: sheet updated.

From what Dieter can tell looking at the light source, it is merely an egg-shaped stone that is emitting light (light only: no heat or anything like that). The light is of the same strength and quality as the light from the short staff he carries that has been illuminating your way so far.

Anadrea

Confidently strides into the room, after the thief checks it out. While people are reading over the papers and such she will listen at and guard the north door
