Effric, Druid

"Agree Thurwin, let's get these people back to safety so we can continue our quest. I'm not sure we need to go back to Nulb just yet, however," Effric says.

He'll offer his cloak to whoever needs it.

Father Redmond goes through all the captive offering assistance.

OOC: Yes, let's bring them back to the tower and see what happens from there. We might need to escort them to Hommlet which wouldn't be too bad since I think we might have a lot of stuff to unload in a safe town.

Narrative: Pax takes some torches out of his pack, handing one each (8 total) to the men, unless some has something better to arm them.

Pax: “At worst, with these you can fight a little better should we encounter something that tries to prevent our escape.”

OoC: I’m of the feeling, in regards of the marching order… Women in the middle, merchants round them, men-at arms round them, us divided 4 in the front/ 4 in the back around the whole of them. And share the sentiments that we should be seeking to get them out…

Caydon - Rogue

"I can scout ahead if needed," Caydon offers.

"Yes, let's go back to the tower. Going back to town might not be a bad idea either at this stage..." agrees Calthas.

OoC: Notice to all. I will be AFK The next couple of days through Wed. If we should split some spoils and go to town. Pax is looking for a place to store his goods and his beloved pony, “Mattie.” And willing to pay the monthly cost for care ahead. He is also looking to upgrade or have made a suit of plate that will fit him. Find a Battle Axe to replace the other. As well as a find a few throwing quality, throwing axes… Even further thinking… (I know-I know-lol) we might think about rationing up, hiring these men at arms to assist us in some way-so we can clear this den of evil. Including bringing proper supplies so we might stay within the dungeon…

Up to you guys-GL!!!

Good thinking. Perhaps we ask these fellas if they'd like to join us, and we could equip them with some of the bandit's gear that we stripped of them. Plus buying a ton of rations, torches, oil and the like, we could stock up so we could make some extended forays into the temple without having to go up every night. Then we could really take the fight to these guys.

If we agree on going back to civilization, I think we should avoid Nulb altogther and go to Hommlet to see Burne and tell him about this (and perhaps the captives turned in to the dungeon by this guy in Nulb may want to give Burne the lowdown...

random encounter [1d100] = 44

Caydon scouts ahead. He encounters nothing and the party, in the configuration that Pax suggested, flees the temple underground and returns to the tower.

Their newly freed captives are thankful. If only we had our clothes instead of your borrowed capes. I would have thought the ghouls would have kept them... muses one of the men.

The two merchants, their servants, and the women are eager to get back to Nulb, if not Hommlet. They have nothing to offer in terms of payment, though. The four men-at-arms and sailor are willing to join your gang if supplied with clothing, arms, and armor, and as long as they are paid fairly and treated well.

Actions?

Hit points and marching order
Effric 9/10 <4,2>
Pax 9/9
Morgan 14/18
--Calthas 13/13
Tavin 9/9 <1>
Father Redmond 10/13 <>
Caydon 11/11
--Thurwin 13/13 <Sleep x2, Stinking Cloud>

OOC: Oops, I thought someone had said we were going to secure their clothing. Can we do that prior to going up? My bad. I thought we did that. And I think we should take them to hommlet. If we go to nulb, then that clown there will know we've made some progress in the temple, and I'd rather keep them guessing.

Tavin - Monk

Tavin is happy to escort them up.

Their men-at-arms might not be a bad addition.... he will say to no one in particular.
