Agreed! I have the 2 red books (player & DM books), and I have the blue 'expert rulebook' and the blue 'book 2', but I'm not sure if that's the entire blue box set.

Short for "Old School Renaissance," what we generally refer to this whole movement about rpgs from the 1970-1980.

Thanks John Adams & Congrats on the new (old) books by the way! :D

Well, then I don't understand why someone was flaming Dyson Logos for his Dungeons, and that he's not OSR. I guess I'm not OSR either because I like his stuff - I guess I don't get it.

Revival / Renaissance / Restart / Remakes

Renaissance is what most people use for the R now, Revival was the original.

If you have 2 red books- then you dont have the originals. There was only one rulebook & the Keep on the Borderlands in the original box. The blue set had a rulebook & Isle of Dread.

I repeat:

I LOVE the old Red & Blue books. Id love to see them redone, as is. Is there really any legal constraints after 30+ years? They were made in 1981.

I love them too. But the question is what is the legal constraints? A brief glance at the Lengths of Copyright for Items Produced Between 1978 and 1987 says 70 years after death of author, 95 years if a Corporation Publication, or 120 years, whichever expires first. Dr. Moldvay passed in March 2007, but TSR was the corporation. Anyway you look at it, the Red and Blue Books wont become Public Domain for at least 60+ years.

I have to ask did those come originally out of box with holes or was it common practice at the time to make holes in rulebooks to fit them same binder where you hold campaign notes?
