Treasure Parcels in LL

Postby bathwizard » Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:57 pm

Would anybody be interested in drop-and-play treasure parcels for Labyrinth Lord? The idea would be to keep the LL's work in handing out treasure to a minimum, while making the treasure interesting.

For example

100gp parcel:
240cp in coins
510sp in coins
5 hides of grizzly bears, tanned and worth 4gp each to any furrier or leatherworker
3 bottles of fine wine, worth 7gp each
1 pewter jug worth 5gp

200gp parcel
200sp in coins
A bronze statuette of a lawful deity, worth 25gp
1 potion of healing, in a wax-sealed earthernware jar (worth 100gp)
3 blue quartz ornamental stones, worth 15gp, 20gp and 20gp

I admit that with the magic items, I don't have any fixed value so it's a bit of a guesstimate.

I like this idea too. The price of magic items should be determined if you are going to include them in a parcel.

Fantastic idea that I would find very useful indeed.

Ok, let's do a few. Remember that you can adjust by adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing.
If you disagree with my valuations of magic items, feel free to adjust as you (the LL) see fit.

3300cp in coins
1250sp in coins
4 rolls of silk, worth 50gp each
a silver and amber pendant worth 250gp
a quiver with 7 arrows +1 (50gp each)

2000gp parcel
a shield +1 (worth 500gp)
a steel walking stick with an ornate silver handle (worth 70gp)
6500sp in coins
50 silver ingots worth 100sp/10gp each
220gp in coins
a moss agate worth 60gp

3000gp parcel
2 matching mastodon ivory tusks, worth 240gp each
A vial of giant squid sepia worth 100gp (or more to an alchemist)
2 potions of healing (worth 100gp each)
A Wand of Detect Magic (21 charges) (worth 1050gp)
9200sp in coins
1 mayor's chain of office, silver & gold, worth 250gp

4000gp parcel
1 potion of invisibility (worth 500gp)
1 potion of gaseous form (worth 500gp)
1 ornate silver ceremonial helmet worth 400gp
a scroll that is actually an IOU with the seal of an important merchant company, promising to pay the bearer 800gp
860gp in coins
4400sp in coins
5 citrine semiprecious stones, worth 100gp each

Love it. Are you working up a framework to determine how they are determined?

Not really, just using a spreadsheet to make sure they all add up correctly.

If you have a AD&D Dungeon Masters Guide, the prices are in there.

Unfortunately my 1st ED and 2nd ED AD&D stuff is at my parents' house, 110 miles away. I may retrieve it over Easter holidays when I visit them.
However, I do have my 3.0 ED D&D DMG - would folks consider that to be a reasonable guideline, or is it TETSNBN? I am aware that the further along the editions you go, the further from Basic D&D the rules diverge, so prices become less comparable.
