Clarifications and fixes should be the main aim, IMHO.
As stretch goals I'd add more monsters from the Monster Manuals/Fiend Folio as the OGL allows.
Maybe a single class Bard class, as the one that appeared in Dragon Magazine.

I'd say no to extended level caps, no to cantrips, no to more class options for demi-humans....
Basically nothing from the Unearthed Arcana onwards.

I'm one of the people who is actively against giving elves extended access to the Ranger class. The original ranger is an Aragorn class, not an elven nature warrior class, and it was shown as such with the max level of 6 fort typical elven rangers in Unearthed Arcana.

To be honest, I'm against adding any new content to this book. The whole point IMO is a compiled book, not a new edition of the game. No weird Bards, no cantrips, etc.

My stretch goal would be more art, maybe additional modules. But not changes to the mechanics of the game (even optional ones).

Sorta. UA allows elves to be rangers only if they have an 18 in ST and then it's only to level 6. Higher levels require extraordinary ST (%) and also high scores in INT and WIS.
(I only know this because I happened to look at UA earlier today and was surprised even it's oddly-powerful rules allowed elven rangers at all. Especially since Gary wrote that article defining what an AD&D ranger was supposed to be... though I can't find that article now of course...)
