AEC errata

Postby elf23 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 12:11 pm

I just noticed that the duration of feather fall is only a single round. As the subject's rate of fall is 5' per round during the spell's duration, this means that the spell is only helpful for falls of 5' or less before a normal rate of falling resumes. I presume the duration is supposed to be 1 round per level?

The text of the spell shadow evocation, greater mixes up the name with "shadow invocation".

Haha! :D

Now that's interesting - I just looked up the AD&D 2e version of the spell, which also has a duration of 1 round / level. But of course in 2e a round is one minute, so (as the spell description says) the caster can float up to 120 feet in a round. That's how I remember the spell. The LL/AEC version is obviously based on the AD&D 1e spell, which has a duration of 1 segment (6 seconds) / level. It's interesting how (except in AD&D 2e) it's one of those spells that actually isn't very useful to low level casters ("wow I can safely fall half way down a 10' pit!").

(on the 10' pit) LOL - exactly!! By the time you cast the stupid thing, you're already stuck onto the spikes at the bottom of the 10' pit! HAHAHAA.

Oh well, scribe it in your book and wait til you're high enough level, then launch off of the cliff or out of the tower and be free! :D

In 1e it last one 6 second segment per level and you fall 2 feet per second so 12' in that segment. You can cast it then jump to the bottom of the 10' pit. Something must have gotten lost in translation.

Found a few bugs on the pdf from drivethru rpg. I am pretty sure I already notified them. Anyways.

- There is a "requirements" line for the races which is totally redundant, since two lines below there are the "min/max" boundaries for the stat scores.

- It's written that the assassin can learn up to three more languages. This is confusing, since by the standard alignment definition there are only TWO more languages the assassin can learn. So, the rule works only with extended alignments. I suggest either modifying the rules, or clarifying how it should be applied.

Cheers,
Antonio

I need to clarify those in the book...

If you want to play a simpler more Moldvay-like game, you ignore the Attribite min/maxs and ise Requirements instead, like with the classes in core LL. If you prefer more granularity you use the 1e requirements, and ignore the "Requirements" one...make sense?
