4. Searching the Settlements

Day 11, Lunadain, Thaumont 11th, Sukiskyn Homestead, 9 a.m.

The day dawns a little cloudy, warm, with a gentle breeze. After a quick breakfast, and a few words of thanks and encouragement from Pyotr, you pack your bags, saddle up your horses, and prepare to search the homesteads and lumber camps north of Sukiskyn.

Since the paths between the settlements are well traveled, Gregor can give you an idea of the times and distances involved in visiting them.

The first homestead, Hokol, is 9 miles from Sukiskyn, and will take you 3 1/2 hours to reach.

From Hokol, it's another 9 miles to either the Ilyakana lumber camp or the Cherkass homestead. Travel time is likewise 3 1/2 hours.

From Ilyakana, it's 6 miles, or 2 1/2 hours, to the Sielo lumber camp.

From the Cherkass homestead it's 15 miles, or 5 1/2 hours, to the Sielo lumber camp.

These, of course, are simply suggestions. There's a big map, and you can go anywhere.

"So, lads," Gregor says, trying to inject some cheer into the morning. "Where to first?"

Athelstan - Fighter

Athelstan, happy to be riding on his new warhorse (a majestic, powerful beast befitting a warrior of his stature and obvious importance) is too happy and giddy to be bothered with trivialties such as "where to?" He gives a wordless thumbs up to the suggestion to proceed to Hokol first.

Tret, rogue

Hokol sounds fine to me. I will take the van. Who's with me?

You guys didn't tell me you had a van. That will seriously cut down on your travel time. ;)

Athelstan has rear-guard, according to the established marching order, but enthusiasm trumps routine. I'll note Athelstan's present position as temporary, and if it continues then we'll revisit the marching order.

Athelstan is fine with whatever position is deemed best for him. Wasn't sure how we'd swizzle it since we'd had some fatalities....

Heh heh. You're the second person in this group to do a Google image search today for the Mystery Machine. I ended up bailing on that post, though. Thanks for taking it over. :D
