Grimes - Fighter

Grimes stares transfixed at the dead dwarf, his expression a mix of shock and anger. He finally shakes his head and says "Ogres and giants earlier. Go figure. Wish I'd known this before, I'd a' kept some alive to make em' pay." He waves his hand dismissively and says "Well, when we get back we can look up his kin and see that they know of his fate."

Grimes takes mental notes of the descriptions of the dead so we can possibly notify next of kin. Maybe when we leave we can retrieve them. Do they have anything of use that we can take to aid us?

Dieter - Mage

Arching an eyebrow at the mention of a dragon: Hmm... maybe we are on the right path then. I hate to search them but we should utilize everything at our disposal. We can haul their bodies back later if we live.

Dieter will search the frozen mage.

OCC: Yes, very nice!

You search the adventurers. It looks like they depleted a large number of their supplies, and their rations are frozen beyond use. You see what appears to have been potions in bottles that are shattered from the freeze and scrolls that fall apart at the touch. Ropes and leather snap and even flasks of oil have burst in the extreme cold.

The mage has a spell book and, as Dieter peruses it, he discovers that pages are very fragile sue to the freezing process. The following spells are found within:
First level: burning hands, detect magic, feather fall, jump, comprehend languages, light, read magic
Second level: levitate, mirror image, scare, darkness 15' radius, detect invisibility, strength
Third level: dispel magic, fireball, tongues, gust of wind, infravision
Fourth level: fumble, wall of fire, dimension door, plant growth

Furuk finds two +1 swords, a mace +1, and a Robe of Useful Things with most of the patches removed: only a ladder, a mule, and a ten foot pole remain. There is a sundered shield that Furuk thinks was magical and the plate mail that Grind wore was also but is cracked and useless.

Dieter finds that the mage had a wand of fire which has been depleted of all charges. She also wears an amulet, frozen to her skin, that looks like it was for a school the Dieter knows of from his youth -- one of the finer schools of magic in the land. From the spell selection and the wand, Dieter has a thought and looks around the pass. Places where snow has been stripped away by wind show old burn marks in the stone -- magical fire was wielded here.

The cleric in the group was apparently one of Llewelyn, as the holy symbol would indicate, and his mace (which Furuk has collected) bears the same mark. His free hand clutches a lock of red hair and careful inspection of his beard shows red hair woven in with his golden whiskers.

Dieter - Mage

A bleak battle happened here. Dieter will nab the spellbook and fire wand. He ponders where the dragon is now...

OCC: Is it time to camp or do they have time to venture farther?
OCC: Items added to inventory. Dieter will copy over unknown spells during the evening.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes unconsciously shivers and casts his gaze downward. "Let's be moving. This is depressing. And as much as I'd love to ride another dragon to its death, we have work to do."

OOC: Let's keep going, hopefully we are getting close.

The party continues on. As you round the next bend you see, in the distance, a mountain that looks like a giant horn.

Image

That must be lggwilv's Horn. It looks to be a few day's travel. You carry on.

The path ascends and more snow and wind come with it. The icy crust on the snow has been covered by fresh, and more snow falls. The sky is uniformly grey and the icy wind invades the barrier of the Rod and chills you to the bones. Were it not for the magical implement you'd be frozen by now for sure.

lggwilv's Horn nears, growing greater by the hour, until you see a crossing and what must be the Lost Caverns ahead!

Image

As you work your way closer, you hear a noise from above. A huge White Dragon flies the skies, dipping from the clouds carrying the mist behind its wings.

Dandy eyes the dragon warily. Does it look like it has spotted us?

Grimes - Fighter

Seeing the dragon Grimes exhales loudly and says "Ah, crap. I don't want to deal with this right now. Damn things... Let's try to find a place to hole up if we can, if not, maybe we make a run for the entrance, but we need to space ourselves out a bit so he can't catch us all at once with his icy nastiness..."

OOC: I say hide under some trees if possible, and if being spotted is inevitable, I say we get some intervals, and ride like hell for the entrance, letting our spellcasters lead the way and the tanks in the back to cover the movement and absorb damage.
