As Nahin mentions the mirror, Durden nods and says "Yes, I have heard of such mirrors. They are usually employed as traps. Fairly harmless in themselves, but as you say, capable of enthralling an unsuspecting viewer. Usually that's the extent of their powers. Hmmm..." he pauses and then continues "Of course, the keep is yours. Occupy it as you will, you have certainly earned it. But I was going to mention, if you aren't interested in settling in just yet, I'd be willing to garrison your keep with a small contingent of men at arms. You would be freed from your tax obligation, and I would see to it that your keep is maintained in perfect condition. Waterdeep would be grateful for your assistance, and the favor wouldn't be soon forgotten."

He rises from his seat, "If you'll excuse me, I have a prior commitment. It's been a pleasure meeting you all." He nods and turns, and with a mumble and flash of light, his wand becomes a staff again, and he heads to the door, pausing to turn and say "Oh, where are my manners? You have a week to give me an answer. As I said, I'll have no hard feelings if you say no. Please let Master Seedius know of your intentions either way, and I'll be informed. It's been nice meeting you all. Good luck." And with that, he shuffles out and down the hall.

As you sit wondering what to do next, a young scribe pokes his head into the room and says "Magister Seedius has had something come up. He has asked me to see you all out, and answer any questions you might have. He will be awaiting your decision this week, after which time he will be leaving for the city for the winter. As the scribe turns to escort you out, he says "Oh, my apologies, he asked me to give this to you" and he hands you a piece of parchment. Unrolling it, it says "Please extend to the bearers of this document the utmost courtesy and accomodations as guests of Master Durden of Waterdeep. See to it that their stay is comfortable, and their bellies filled with your best crumblecakes and spirits." it is signed in flowing script by Seedius, Magister of Waterdeep. The scribe says "Your rooms await you at the Swinging Sword. It's in the market area. Best place in town." With that, he show's you the door. Dak and Grinkle are sitting outside, and seem to be drawing interested spectators gawking at such odd specimins in town. No one seems hostile to them, but rather regard them as objects of curiosity. Dak says "It about time. My belly iz rumbly. Dak need some food." Grinkle smiles at you all and patiently waits.

It's late in the day, you have a free pass for the Swinging Sword. Where to?

Nahin will thank Durden: My thanks for the offer, I'll let you know what we come up with by the end of week.

Nahin will thank the scribe for the accommodations document.

Once he gets outside he'll turn to his friends: Let's get to the Swinging Sword and get our rooms... then into a banquet!

Nahin will relax this first evening with his friends. The next day he is intent on getting the booty identified and divvied up. He'll bee line it over to Melvin's for some ID work.

OCC: Sheet updated with deed for "South Kryptgarden Keep", title/name updated also.

You all head toward the Swinging Sword, and through a small but busy marketplace. People tend to stare a bit at your band, but judging from their attitude, they see at least some adventurers and oddities up this way. Grinkle draws his hood a bit tighter, and shrinks down a bit in the seat of the cart...
As you cut through the market, you see the inn ahead. It's a large structure (about as big as the inn at Daggerford) and has a large, gold painted longsword hung above the doorway. Adjacent to the inn is a rather large barn, and through it's open doors, you see that it has just two mules and a flatbed wagon inside. A young boy sees you approach and comes running out "Masters, would you like me to take your horse and secure your cart? I can help you carry your things inside if you wish."

As you look about, you can see a small two story storefront about 500 feet away at a corner, with a small warehouse building next to it. The shop has gaudy blue paint and the familiar stars and moon you've seen before. There is a sign on the door, but you can't read it from here. But judging from the snazzy paint job, and the handful of goats tethered outside bleating softly, this must be the home of Melvin.

As you pause momentarily, a smell of something good cooking wafts from the building chimney and Dak perks up "Mmmm... sumthin' smells good. Dak's belly is empty. Nahin, dat paper say anyting about food? Dak needs some foods." and he eyes the inn like it's a giant porkchop.

Grinkle says softly to Marcus, "Sir, what would you like me to do?"

OOC: Sorry, been a little busy lately.

At some point, Rory gives Nahin a good-natures jab with the elbow. "Nicely done, Nahin," he says. "A garrison in exchange for no taxes. I could rob barons and squires--um, forget the squires, all my life and not make as a good a living. Think of all that treasure...tax free."

After a moment's pause, he adds, "Gentlemen, if we find ourselves in Waterdeep, you might find my company to your advantage...or not. Frankly, there are people in the better parts of town who would just as soon chat with Grinkle than me," he says, nodding politely to the hobgoblin.

Marcus, paladin

Grinkle, why don't you stay with us. We can let this boy take care of our horse and cart.

Turning to the others, Marcus says, Shall we, Duty Bound? and leads the way into the Swinging Sword.

Nagin - Elf

Nahin will smile to Rory, Yes quite a windfall. For all of though! Yes, I think I will take him up on the garrison. Not quite ready to hang my hat up yet...

Gents, this appears to be Melvin's home. I think we should get these identified and divvy this loot. I really don't want to leave it in the cart whilst we whoop it up! Cities have scabs as we all know. He'll say with a smile.

Since everyone is congratulating and talking to Nahin, the boy comes up to him and says "Sir, I can board the horse... wow. She looks hungry. And I can put your wagon in a stall. Don't worry mister, I lock the barn up when I'm not in." He smiles, clearly in awe of your group.

So will you proceed to Melvin's crib or the Inn?

Nahin - Elf Mage

Bully idea! Nahin will venture over to Melvin's abode and rap on the door. If Melvin answers he will invite him to dinner and drinks.
