Day 9, Loshdain, Thaumont 9th, Dymrak Forest, noon

Sunlight filters through the budding tree limbs as the lower branches scrape against you and your mounts. The Sukiskyn homestead fades from sight behind you, and with it the smell of charred wood. The stench of goblins, however, remains in the air, and while the going is slow, you have no trouble following their progress through the woods.

After about an hour, the woods open to reveal the great eastern moors. To your left, the Dymrak Forest continues north. To your right, the goblin tracks continue under the shadows of the giant oaks.

Taras breathes deeply, then smiles. "If you go that way," he says, pointing north, "it's a days journey to the Cherkass homestead. That's where my wife Alfana's from.

"If we go the way the goblins went," he adds, "you'll come to the Segenyev after about a day and a half. But this," he says, pointing to the moors spreading out before him, "this is paradise. This is where we find our horses. You gotta be careful, though," he warns. "There are bogs out there that will suck you down." Taras snaps his fingers. "Just like that!"

Athelstan - Fighter

Athelstan smiles at Taras' mention of his wife's home, "I'm sure it's a beautiful place, and hopefully free from these marauding creatures. Lead the way, good Taras, we have many miles to go, and many, many evil ones to slay before we can get our repast. Look sharp, friends, our foes may be cowards, but they are wily and could be planning an ambush... all the better to concentrate them and kill them in one area..."

He'll spur his horse on, thinking in the back of his mind how nice it would be to have a cold ale and large chunk of well-cooked meat...

Soldath - Mage

Soldath will ride along dreaming of easier times calculating a peasants tax to the local liege. Oh, easier times...

Tret, rogue

Tret volunteers to ride in the vanguard to scout ahead and report back. It wouldn't be the first time...

Renardius (Cleric)

Renardius rides along silently near the front of the main group (not up ahead with Tret). He's on the watch for boggy patches :D.

Biz: MU

Her body slumps along in rhythm with the motion of her horse, "I hate bogs... and their bugs." She says under her breath.

You ride on, lost in your own thoughts, with Tret in the vanguard. After about eight miles (where the dotted trail line ends on the map), you notice that the goblin and horse tracks abruptly turn right and disappear into the woods.

Athelstan - Fighter

"Hmmm... we've come this far, let's keep following the trail, but be mindful..."

Athelstan will follow the trail, keeping a watchful eye for ambush or other perils...

Renardius (Cleric)

Renardius wastes no time in following the trail. He is not so concerned about ambushes as he is with possible goblin rearguards.

Soldath - Mage

They just had to go into the forest... he will direct his steed into the forest.
