Leon glances around carefully, noting the closest water, in the chance that someone, including himself, might need to douse themselves quickly....

Zavenorrin takes one torch from Balfa, and the flint & tinder from Eggi. While acknowledging the warning of Immalor, a meticulously pours one quarter of his oil flask on the slime, taking great care not to touch it with any part of his body, then lights on the torch. He then approaches it to the oil in an attempt to ignite it.

Zavenorrin, with the help of the Dwarves, strikes flint to steel and manages to get a pitch torch ablaze. A flask of whale oil is tossed into the small room and the torch is set to it. A hot ball of flame engulfs a large portion of the room as black smoke laps into the air. The slime coating seems to dry up as the heat gets to it. The dark green robes all burn up as does the remnants of ruined furniture.
The ceiling does not appear to have any extra degree of thin slime present.

After 5 minutes. The room appears clear as the oil smolders. You can still hear the sounds of croaking in the far distance. It's now 3:50pm (the sun typically sets around 630pm).

What are your next actions?

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Turin, cleric

Now we'll never know. It seems too early to make camp. Let's search this place thoroughly and then get a move on. We're on a mission.

The torch still in hand, Zavenorrin enters the room and starts looking at the wooden door and checking how he could open it.

Eggi

Eggi is happy to move into the building now that the "slipping hazard" has been removed.

You enter the small back room stamping out with your boots the smoldering remnants of the oil fire. The air is still choked with the smell of burning wet wood and there is an unholiness about the place. The door does not have a latch/handle. You push it open on it's hinges to reveal

A large room lying in shadows. Directly in front of you resting on a stone plinth is a statue inset with an array of sparkeling multi faceted green gems . It depicts a grotesque formless spawn with dozens of mouths and eyes. The eyes appear to all be gems. Standing next to the statue is a muscular 7' tall naked human. His red rimmed lidless eyes glare back at you. His skin is patched together like a quilt. 20' distance

Further back - The hole in the eastern ceiling above enters in a stream of light onto the floor. The floor is strewn with slimey debris. The decayed ruins of church pews and benches it appears mostly.

What are your actions?

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Turin, cleric

Turin holds up his Holy Symbol. What unholy monstrosity is this?

Leon... slowly... edges both hands toward the hilts of his blades, watching for either the statue or the other monstrosity to make the tiniest move.
