What kind of system would you run for a game like this?

Yes I know that The Man With The Iron Fists is a movie and not a game. The basic plot, for lack of a better term, is that a young blacksmith in 19th century China has forged a set of iron gauntlets around his own fists in hopes of freeing his mother from slavery and killing her captor. At the same time there's a shipment of gold that seven rival clans are planning to intercept. Last but not least there's an opium additicted British soldier who's just joined forces with a brothel and its madame, also to steal the royal gold shipment. So what game systems do you think could handle something like this well? Don't say Risus, that's just cheating.

Hong Kong Action Theatre 1st edition.

This is what it was built to do.

If you can get hold of any of the supplements for HKAT 1e as well, go for it. They aren't essential, but they do add some useful genre hints.

There is also HKAT 2e. This uses the GOO Tri-stat system and just doesn't have the same feel as 1e.

Actually, any good generic system could handle such a semi-historical action adventure. Hero System, GURPS, Action! System, Mini Six, Tri-Stat DX ...

Depends on how crunchy you want it, of course. Hero System has detailed martial arts moves, while Mini Six would get your players into the fist-flying fracas fast.
