Furuk turns to Einar. “Sounds good, if all is clear then I’m ready to head in there.”

While the tunnel is being investigated he keeps an eye on the passage to the north.

Einar, human Thief

Einar climbs out of the darkness, glad that lady luck was with him again. He pulls down the cowl of his cloak, revealing a sweat beaded brow.

"At last, I thought that darkness would last forever", he wipes his brow and continues.

"There is something amiss with that darkness. It is not natural: even words are barred from penetrating it. But not all is lost. The tunnel leads down into a chamber where sight and sound return, and on the other side of that chamber is a ledge over looking a river of lava. The heat on the ledge alone was near unbearable. At first I thought that was the end, but there is a concealed door that leads deeper into the caves."

He takes a moment to let what he has said sink in, as he looks from face to face. "So, what say you all? Shall we go down this rabbit hole?"

Anadrea

Finishes her light snack and pulls her yew long bow back out. "Ready when y'all are"

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

You head through the mouth single file, as the passage is narrow. It is as the thief described, a supernatural darkness and quiet that envelops you. Even the normally sunny shaft with the Continual Light spell on it is brought to a dull glow, as if fighting the darkness. After a bit you come to an open area that is on the edge of the volcano.

Looking down the lava shaft, you can see the roiling red liquid and feel its heat even though it's hundreds of feet below. Looking up you can see the blue sky with some clouds, touched in pink, above the rim sixty feet above you. You've lost a sense of exactly how long you've been down here, but it is obviously late afternoon outside.

The passage, once secret, that the Einar described is plain now to the party. It will be a tight fit again, single file only, but it slopes downward and hopefully away from the maddening maze and closer toward your goal.

Anadrea

Is happy to see the outside sky once again. She takes a moment to enjoy the sun on her face.

"Aye, let us onward toward the narrow passage"

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Einar, human Thief

Having at least some consensus, Einar moves to the tunnel and looks for traps at the entrance: scanning the floor for pit covers, the ceilings and walls for anomalies, and listening for echoes. If all seems well, he will pass the threshold with cowl raised.
