You work your way into range as the cultists run towards you. They are obviously crazed, and seem to be in a berzerk-like state.

Cygnus gets in range and, at his command, grasses and weeds sprout from the hard earth and entangle the cultists. All but one (save vs spells, F1, 10, 18, 3, 1, 7, 9, 17) are ensnared and the one not completely ensnared is moving slowly as the weeds grasp at his legs.

Dandy the Cleric throws his mighty Dwarven hammer, (d20, 6+4=10, HIT) which smashes into the non-entangled cultist (dmg 1d6 5x2=10) killing him instantly. The magical hammer reverses course and returns to the cleric's hand.

Kalvain looses a bolt from his crossbow (d20, 8+1=9, HIT) hitting a cultist (dmg 1d8, 2) in the shoulder. The cultist screams in rage and pain.

Anadrea follows the bolt with a pair of arrows, one after the other. The first (d20, 1+2=3, MISS) flies wide while the second (d20, 11+2=13, HIT) finds its mark. The target screams in pain (dmg 1d8, 4) and falls silent as death overtakes him.

Dieter is yet out of range for a dart throw to be effective so works his way closer.

Furuk launches a bolt as well and (d20, 10+2=12, HIT) scores a hit on an entangled cultist, (dmg 1d8, 6) killing him instantly.

Maeglin cannot find a leader among the berzerking pack and looses his arrow at the first target of opportunity. His arrow (d20, 13+2=15, HIT) flies true and (dmg 1d6, 6) ends the life of another cultist.

Of the seven that were charging, four are dead and one wounded and entangled. The other two rage impotently against their floral bonds.

Dieter will move forward with the group and look for stragglers that might be trying to make their way back to the caves.

KALVAIN (paladin)

KALVAIN approaches the ensnared cultists and loudly speaks in a commanding tone, "Living followers of the foul Obsidian Heart cult, you are captured. Throw down your weapons and be spared by LAW!. Refuse at the risk of your life."

He then slowly and deliberately draws his bastard sword from his scabbard so that it makes a loud, menacing <hiiissss> that suggests he means business.

Anadrea'

Keeps her longbow out and scans the perimeter, especially near the skull - as others in the party question or kill the cultists

Let the red dawn surmise
What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Dandy Dwarf Cleric looks at the hammer in his hand, then back at the dead cultist... then back at the hammer in his hand, then at his friends... "Oi!! Dat der hammer be fer doin'a guud job!"

Dandy, if not immediately being attacked, zeroes in on another charging cultist or - if one is not available - an entangled cultist...

If at an entangled cultist...
"Oi! Wut wer ye sayin der paludin?? I coul'nt hear ye!!" KWAH-KWAH-KWAH the hammer takes flight again!

At Kalvain's words, the cultists merely flail harder against their entanglement. They show no willingness to stand down; instead their rage against you merely builds. They foam at the mouth--flecks of white mixed with the burgundy of the wine they were drinking--and their eyes are wild.

Dandy throws his hammer of war once again, and again (d20, 8+4=12, HIT) it flies true (dmg d8, 5x2=10) smashing the head open of one of the cultists and killing him instantly. His struggle against the plant bonds ceases as his body collapses. The hammer flies back round for the Dwarf to catch.

There remain two cultists, one sprouting a quarrel fro his chest. Both would be upon you if they weren't so bound.

No other activity is spotted either on the tree line or near the Skull.

Dieter will move toward the dead cultists with his dagger drawn to search their bodies. Are they all wearing the same outfit?

They are still in the entangle and you cannot approach without potentially being caught in the spell. And there are still two live ones in there.

At the slope base, in the ceremony area, there are the sleeping cultists and their leader. Do you wish to approach them at this time?

From what you can tell from outside the entangle spell area of effect is that they are all in ceremonial robes.

“It looks like diplomacy isn’t an option with these fanatics.”

Furuk fires another bolt at the nearest entangled cultist.
