ICONS Core & the Villainomicon are both "pay what you want" . A great time to get into Superhero gaming.

ICONS is a derivative of FATE. I generally have a bit of problem with the more "story-gamey" games these days, but I think it would work for me as ICONS is specifically trying to emulate superhero comics. The overall feel of it reminds me of Marvel Super Heroes / FASERIP.
It's got it's own universe of heroes & villains that reminds me a bit of Villains & Vigilantes, although a lot of them are clearly knock-offs of famous characters (not-quite-Batman, not-quite-Superman, etc.).
(On a related note, I have just yesterday learned that the author of "Dark Dungeons" (the BECMI retroclone) has mashed up ICONS with Marvel Super Heroes / FASERIP and released it as MASKS. That's something I will have to check out when I have time.)

I've downloaded the free PDF but not had time to look at it yet. (OK quick glance at the first few pages, it certainly has some FASERIP in its DNA. Also recommends using "FUDGE dice" but from what I see on page 6 it's equivalent to using 1d3s (using d6s and 1-2=1st result, 3-4=2nd result, 5-6=3rd result).
I think it might have been a thread on RPGNet that tipped me off as to what the game was based on (since for legal reasons author can't mention trademarked names of the original games, I never realized before them).

I had preordered months ago, and the book arrived in my mailbox today.
No time to look at it yet, just putting out the word that the book is being shipped.
