I think it's a lite version of WEG's D6 system (you know, the old Star Wars RPG).
Sakthros is right, it's a stripped down version of the D6 system, which was made open a little while back. I personally never played any D6 games - dice pool games generally don't interest me - but there's just something so delightfully simple and compact about Mini Six that I'm itching to give it a go.
GURPS, on the other hand, I played far too much of back in the 90s. Ultimately it just got too complex for my tastes. I am, and always will be, sold on its daddy, The Fantasy Trip, though. There are a few good attempts at retroclones for TFT out there that are worth a look if you've not explored that game (Dark City Games'
Legend of the Ancient World, et. al. is the best place to start).
But enough, I'm derailing my own thread
Mini Six is tasty (and nicely hackable) and should be given a shot. I hope to do so soon. Anyone else given it a go and have things to report?
