Clean up

Initiative Lizardman d6, 5, Party d6, 5 simultaneous action

The Lizardman sees Tiny and hesitates for a minute (morale check 2d6, 8, success) but decides to charge at the party. Grimes and Dandy (autopilot) charge back. Dieter and Einar (autopilot) help Furuk.

The lizardfolk warrior attacks Grimes (d20, 8, MISS) but cannot connect.

Dandy throws his hammer (d20, 4, MISS) but it flies by his quarry.

Grimes runs past the lizardman, swinging his sword (d20, 20, CRITICAL HIT, MAX DAMAGE) and the lizardman's head flies from his body to fall into the lava. The head ignites as it hits the pool of fire. The body crumples on the bridge.

Furuk flails (STR check, d20, 9, success) but stays afloat for another turn. Dieter wets his rope and his imps use it to get Furuk out of the water. The rope burns within 10' of the lava but the imps work in concert to get him out. Dieter, the Imps and Einar all pull the armor-laden half-orc from the lava once he reaches the rope end.

The party makes it to the far side of the lava lake and, with Grimes and Dandy taking another bit of damage (dmg 1HP) as their armor burns them before they can get far enough away to avoid the heat. All in the party are quite dehydrated and you need to rest and drink nearly all of your water just to recover. The four lizardfolk each have the gold armbands (100GP each) and the horn which summoned the salamander might be difficult to sell but you think you can get 500GP for it.

Einar puts on his hood and disappears. He reappears a bit later reporting that the tunnel goes back a bit before sloping downward. The air grows cooler again as the lava chamber is left behind and the air ahead is damp and smells of water.

Grimes - FIghter

Grimes looks at Furuk and smiles "That was some fine lava swimming back there... glad you made it." He then looks at Dandy and says "Fine work too, although we are a little worse for wear afterward."

Grimes will take a breather, slugging his water and trying to cool off somewhat.

Dieter - Mage

Indeed, that was quite a swim you took there Furuk. Maybe you should hold onto that ring for the immediate future. He will say with a laugh. I am without magic at this point, do you think we could chance a rest or should we push on?

OCC: Ring deducted.

"Thanks for the help my friends. That's going to be quite a story to tell when we finally get out of this place."

"I feel like I need to rest too Dieter. Let's take a break and decide where we can go from here."

Furuk takes out his waterskin and tries to cool off with a drink of water.

Rest

You find a place a fair way from the heat of the lava that Einar tells you seems safe.

Dandy touches himself and Grimes with the Staff of Healing (d6+1, 3+1=4; d6+1, 2+1=3) and then unselfishly uses his final Cure Light Wounds on the wounded halfling as well (d6+1, 5+1=6). It isn't much but it's something.

You exhaust your water trying to rehydrate after the battle over the lava lake. You hope for some more soon.

You rest for the night in your standard watch order and, luckily, nothing comes down the passage to rouse you.

Action continued in new thread.

Grimes - FIghter

Grimes thanks Dandy profusely. "Much obliged, friend. That thing put a hurtin' on me." After our rest he suggests that we take it a bit easy in our wounded condition. "We should be cautious going forward, we are pretty dinged up..." He's all for going on, but cautiously. And if we can find a place to hold up, that'd be nice too.
