Descent Under the Temple of Elemental Evil

Calthas looks at the content of the chest with interest, then get interested to the south door. "Shouldn't we look at what is behind this door before going back to town?" he asks to those present near him.

OOC: Sorry, should have worded that better - what I meant was that perhaps we might begin to think about going back to town in the near future, not right away. We could clear some more out here for a couple days, but perhaps we should resupply soon. No hurry on departing.

Pax investigates the sack. The sack has what appears to be clothing, human sized, enough for fifteen or so people. They don't appear to be all for one person as the garb is a mix of men's and women's clothing and ranges from the finery of merchants to the rags of servants to the uniforms of men-at-arms. There is no money nor jewelry with the clothing and even the belts and shoes are worn and probably of little value. He smells the clothing in the sack. It smells musty and grimy, like the bottom of a wet hamper.

The south door is opened. The air pressure change causes the door to the south of that to open as well. Through it, the rest of the party espies Pax and Morgan (in room 116). Pax appears to be whispering to the paladin and uses clothing to take somethings that glint off of the corpses in that wet room.

This room (117) stinks to high heaven. A serviceable but moldy shield hangs on the west wall. Two great heaps of old cloth and pillows and like materials are formed to serve as beds. The floor is we and the makeshift beds are soaked and smell.

Caydon - Rogue
While the others consider the next course of action, Caydon moves towards the makeshift beds. He cautiously prods and examines the foul rags with his sword, looking for goodies, but mindful of spores, mold, and creepy-crawlies.

OCC: Pax will show the valuables to the group (keeping contact with the cloth, warning others to do the same) asking if any have a way to detect any enchantments upon them. While this occurs…

Pax: “A mixed bag of clothing-and this room here (which smells of soiling)… Seems our hosts are collecting innocents for sacrifice. If any have the skills-is there any way to detect the heaviest amount of foot traffic-perhaps we might be able to track, there may be some yet-still alive!”

Leans to the Paladin: “Surely we should save who we can.”

OCC: He leans out of both entrances of room #118; pulling the torch close to the floor-to see if perhaps he can detect undue ware (unlikely) of the stone passage or at least since the captives are will out close flakes of dried skin-blood etc… If anyone asks what he is doing he will explain as much… Pax wants nothing to do with the valuables discovered-if they are in fact enchanted… He will happily unload them to the Paladin for safe keeping until they can be fenced or whatever is decided…

Calthas will poke at the clothes and beds with his sword to make sure nothing hostile is in there. If this is the case, he will then open the door to the south.

Thurwin - Wizard

Thurwin winces at the smell and conditions and with a pained voice he says "Atrocious. Then again, I expect nothing less from those who would dwell in this place." He points at the shield on the wall and says "We may want to check that out, it's moldy, but let's make sure the filth isn't obscuring items of value, eh?"

Thurwin will keep watch as the others search, etc. He'll poke about with his staff, half looking, half trying to ensure he doesn't step in anything nasty.

Tavin - Monk

Tavin will take a closer look at the moldy shield in hopes that it is higher quality than it looks.

Holes appear in the bedding and a mouse runs from it across the room and into another. They don't look like they'd be comfortable to bed in even if the smell was eliminated and they were dry.

Tavin pulls the shield down from the wall. It is covered in mould which is easily scraped off, revealing a nice medium shield. It bears runes and is light as a feather. (Shield +1)

Pax looks for signs of travel on the ground. The water from the battle with the ghasts makes that impossible.
