Rapid Archery

Sometimes an archer might want to sacrifice range for speed. When this happens the fighter selects a number of arrows to fire that round, up to seven, against a single target in his short or long bow's short range. Make an attack roll as normal with every two points above the archer's THAC0 or Attack Value resulting in an additional arrow hit.

In BECMI and Laybrinth Lord rapid archery can replace set spear vs. charge or lance attack in fight-type classes and replaces lance attack for elves.

How does this sound then?

I'd throw a penalty in on the hit roll, or something. As it stands it's something for nothing. Well, something for very close to nothing (burning through your arrows at a much higher rate I guess could be seen as a penalty).
