I brought up the topic of Exalted-style evocations before. Evocations are magical effects produced by non-consumable magical items, like weapons, armor and even general clothing and objects such as tomes and talismans. While not all evocation bearing items grant more than Emerald tier evocations, all evocation bearing items must grant Emerald evocations. To have even one Sapphire evocation a magic item needs two Emerald evocations, while an enchanted item needs four Emerald and two Sapphire evocations to possess even one Adamant evocation. Emerald evocations are the equivalent of 4th level magic-user spells in power. Sapphire evocations are equal to 5th to 7th level magic-user spells and Adamant evocations are roughly as powerful as 8th and 9th level spells.

*Clerics, magic-users and sorcerers can only learn and employ evocations of the Emerald tier, except for tomes, staves/rods, sorcerous paraphernalia (such as crystal balls) (magic-users and sorcerers) and holy relics (clerics).
**Thieves, mystics and halflings can learn and call upon evocations of the Sapphire tier, in addition to Adamant tier evocations involving stealth (thieves and halflings), legerdemain (thieves) and agility (including dodging).
***Fighters, including brawlers, battle dancers and ruffians, along with dwarves and elves can use up to Adamant tier evocations, though dwarves are limited to Emerald tier for sorcerous paraphernalia and staves/rods and Sapphire tier for tomes.
Preparing Evocations
To prepare an evocation an evoker must have the object bearing the evocation on his or her own person. Then he or she needs to spend time attuning to the magic of the evocations to be used. This is x minutes for Emerald evocations, x minutes for Sapphire evocations and x minutes for Adamant evocations.
