Late to the party, as usual

Postby finarvyn » Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:31 pm

I drift from game to game, system to system, sometimes like a reed blowing in the wind. As such, I haven't been thinking much about Labyrinth Lords recently and haven't been on the boards much.

Then I happened upon the Grognardia post on Realms of Crawling Chaos, which James loved. And then a post on Dragonsfoot about combining the Rules Cyclopedia with Mutant Future and Realms of Crawling Chaos. So, I thought I'd wander by the Goblinoid Games forum to look for chatter on RoCC.

Only to find everything locked up. Dan turned off the lights and locked the door and skipped town and I didn't realize it.

Well, clearly I found where everyone is hiding. So there! 8-)

Now that we've finally fully divorced our homebrew from LL and have taken the step of admitting we're creating a new game (and I use the term "game" broadly, here) I've also been getting a bit of LL fever lately, to be honest. There's worse things to catch.

Y'know the other annoying thing (which I understand is petty of me) is that moving to the new boards (1) reset my post count, and (2) reset my "join date".

Makes me look like a total rookie instead of a guy who's been around LL and MF for several years. :P

Look at that Goblinoid Games fella, he's only been a member for about 9 weeks - what a noob. :D

Aw shaddap, ya n00b.

or, alternatively

Hey Rook! Ain't you supposed to be carryin' my bags?

But seriously, anyone who contests your position - based on trivial things like join dates and post counts - gets a taste of my boot, amigo.

I know, but in general I wear join date and a post count like a badge of honor because I try to (1) contribute at least one interesting thought per post, and (2) avoid "me too" posts just to boost the totals. It's my way of contributing to the world of gaming, and in my mind my longevity and my post count represents something.

That's why board switches get so frustrating. There is an Amber Diceless board which has switched (or totally crashed) three times, so about eight years worth of my time and energy currently results in a post count of 40 or so.

As I said in my initial post, it's probably just me being petty. 8-)
