Dandy

Dandy offers his 'see in the dark' ability - if it would be helpful.

Dieter - Mage

Down sounds like the way to go... double doors... something important. Let's take a look.

Furuk joins Grimes at the front of the line and begins walking down the slope towards the double doors.

You all descend down the steeply-sloped passage that leads down to a set of stone double doors, the passage leveling just before them. It is as Einar described. There is a small alcove to one side, about five feet before the doors. The doors are closed and appear to be locked. There are two arrow-slits next to the door. Peering through them you can see what appears to be the cavern floor, with some stalagmites and rocks.

Dandy

"Mebbe I shuld stays up here until ye'all are through them doors? Case there's a trap or sumpin?" It's just a thought, Dandy is more than willing to follow the party down and through the double doors - assuming we can pick the lock.

OOC: I already posted that everyone went down, connivingsumo

Einar tries to pick the lock. (secret roll) He succeeds. With a click, the lock is undone. The doors swing open, and Dieter's light source illuminates the bottom of the cavern. It is a mess of boulders and stalagmites.

(secret roll) As you step out, Dandy catches something with his foot. You hear a ping and a rumble back up the passage. You barely have time to move, a giant boulder crashes down the tunnel and flies out the door. You all try to dive out of the way (Save vs. Petrify, d20, Grimes 8, success, Furuk 11, FAIL, Dieter 20, success, Dandy 18, success, Einar 19, success) and most of you succeed but Furuk is too slow to react (dmg 3d6, 5+2+1=8) and he's hit hard by the boulder. The boulder smashes against a column in the cavern.

On the outside, several broad steps lead up to the door. A path leads away from the steps out into the cavern, but it quickly becomes indistinguishable from the rest of the rocky ground. The floor of the cave is riddled with loose stones, stalagmites, columns, and boulders.

Looking back you see the cave you just exited was in fact in a giant stalagmite, the gentle slope to the plateau above looks like you could hike up it if you wanted. The outside of each door is carved with the same symbol. It looks like a backward “S” with hash marks near either end:

Dieter notices that the same symbol is painted on a rock at the edge of the light source like a trail marker.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes will go check on Furuk. "Dang, that was one hard hit, you okay buddy?" and he'll help him up. Grimes points to the rock and says "Someone's gonna pay for that little trick."

Grimes will keep a lookout while everyone gets ready to move out again.
