Has anyone found a way to deal with the high damage output of things like energy weapons in an M&M game? Do you nerf the damage? Do you make the items extremely rare/save them until higher levels? Or do you just blast away?

I've thought about this a while as I'm preppy for a Mutant Future/Buck Rogers game. I'm using all MF rules excepting that I'm having them roll hit points per level.

I'm going to leave the damage as is. They will be rare artifacts but they will keep the high damage.
