Calthas quietly fetches the silver coins and proposes to share them with Rilo, as they are the ones who probably need them the most. Then he answers to Tavin: "Better open the chest now: I don't feel comfortable leaving unknown items behind, especially in this place..."

Tavin - Monk

Okay, let get started with the chest then. Someone keep there eyes out for the brigands. He will close the door they came in. Tavin will then help dig the chest out of it's location.

Calthas moves away from the chest and the brigand and readies an arrow, in an attempt to be ready for any bad surprise.

The chest is buried in the rubble quite well. It takes half an hour for you to dig it out: one large brick from the moathouse wall that rested on the lid took four of you nearly ten minutes to remove.

A check by your resident rogue reveals no traps and the chest is not locked, but the latch was damaged in the burying, it seems. It takes a few minutes to bust it open. Once you do, it seems that it was worth it. The chest holds 2,000 cp, two bolts of fine cloth worth 60 gp each, a crystal flagon and four goblets (the set worth 80 gp), an inlaid wooden box with ivory handles and decorations (45 gp), and four arrows inscribed with runes and marked by copper strands inlaid in them (arrows +1).

As you examine the loot, the hold person spell wears off. The bandit struggles for a bit but soon realizes that it is useless.

Tavin - Monk

Not bad. He will say trying his best to clean his hands off. What next? I am thinking we explore the rest of this level and then potentially check out the dungeon.

Thurwin - Wizard

After blindfolding the prisoner, Thurwin winks at the others and says in a serious tone "Well, it seems this lot are just some small time crooks. I doubt this fellow knows anything of consequence. Probably best if we just kill him now and save ourselves the trouble of toting him around. I mean, what info could he have that would be valuable to us? No matter, I'll kill him if you are all too scared to do it. Now where's my dagger?"

OOC: We can't just lug this lout around with us, but we need to get some info from him if we can. Thurwin is happy to play bad cop if someone wants to question him. Obviously Thurwin can't kill him, but he can try to scare him. I say we question this fella, and either keep him bound (we can come back and take him to Burne and Rufus) or we can set him free. I'd lean toward taking him to Hommlett.

Effric, Druid

"It seems my friend here..." Effric points at Thurwin "...has no more use for you."

Then, speaking soflty, Effric bends closer to the bandit.

"But I might be able to arrange for your survival if you can tell us about what you are doing here, if there are any others like you, and what you know of the basement below the ruins..."

Father Redmond plays along:
"Go ahead kill him. I will summon his restless soul after for questioning."

OOC: FR is really interested in the two bolts of fine cloth.
