Dieter

Strange place... as with the whole place it smells like evil. He whispers. As soon as everyone is in the room he will close the door. Taking the paper from the desk he will place the sheets next to each other in front of the door and then sprinkle water on them. Enough to barely soak them in hopes that anyone coming through the door will disturb/rip them.

Einar, human Thief

Intrigued by the peculiararities of the room, Einar takes a few moments to inspect the bench with the five buckets: is anything in the buckets? can its use be ascertained? what about the brass scales?

The party is complete in the room, the secret door closed.

Einar notes that the scales are much like that he's seen in marketplaces in various towns he's been in for money changing. Examining the workbench with the holes, it is impossible to miss that each of the holes in the bench has letters (in Common) painted next to the opening: PP, GP, EP, SP, and CP, respectively. The buckets below are all empty.

Anadrea stands guard at the north entrance where she sees an alarm cord attached to the inside of the door leads to a bell. As she looks out into the room she spies what could be a secret door just east of the door to the south.

The south entrance is unguarded, the stone doors looms. The light from the stone casts harsh shadows competing with the light cast from Dieter's staff.

Anadrea

"Hmmm, wonder if it'd be a good idea to pull the alarm bell cord, and then ambush whoever shows up?" She wonders aloud and glances about for reaction..

In the meantime she will crack open the secret door and see what's on the other side

What we shall do,
When this blue starlight dies
And all is through.

Einar, human Thief

"It would be an interesting engagement", he agrees with the woman, "unless it brought a mob of them upon us. Then again, the doors could provide good choke points." Einar reaches out and touches the scale, tipping one side before walking to the south door and listening for activity on the other side. "Where to go from here?"

Dieter

In reference to pulling the cord: At least there two methods of egress minus the potential approach they might make...

As Anadrea opens the secret door she hears a muffled *snick* and feels the sting of a needle in her hand. (Save vs Poison, d20, 10, SUCCESS ... barely) Luckily the needle doesn't embed into her flesh, just creasing the outer layer of skin. It is enough to bleed and hurt but the greenish hue of the poison on the tip reminds her that she may not be so lucky in the future.

The door opens to reveal a small room lined with shelves. Most of the shelves are empty, but on one of them is a large velvet pouch and a carved wooden coffer.

Anadrea

Looks down at her pricked finger with dread, "Err. Perhaps our resident footpad would like to have a look at the items on this shelf?"

Einar, human Thief

Einar chuckles at Anadrea, "I see how it is. Now you appreciate having me go to danger first." He looks over the shelf, at the coffer and the velvet pouch: we wouldn't them to be on a pressure plate! If nothing seems to out of the ordinary, he will see if the coffer has a locking mechanism. If so, he'll glance at the wall for dart holes before attempting to open the coffer, picking the lock if need be.
