Almost Old School - general rants & remembrances

To avoid clogging up forums every time I get bored and want to post something, I have started a blog.

https://almostoldschool.wordpress.com/

If anybody has any experience making WordPress blogs look better, feel free to offer me tips on editing layout etc.

(Years ago I had a BlogSpot blog, but I have mostly parted ways with anything Google.)

good start to your blog dude.

I used to get my rpg stuff back in the early 80's in a hardware store of all places.

Oh look, I remembered I started a blog!

"In Defense of Chaotic Neutral"

A semi-rant I wrote almost 13 years ago.

I've started posting writeups for the continent maps I posted in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1559

over at my blog:

(I have come to the realization that since I don't have any players, it's possible nobody will ever see this stuff I spent years working on at an earlier point in life. Still, trying not to give away any of the BIG secrets just in case!)

Hey after 6 months I finally posted another section of map!

https://almostoldschool.wordpress.com/

Had it done long time ago but life got too screwy too keep posting stuff.

Now for the tedious part ... taking those 5-mile subhex maps and breaking them down into 1-mile sub-subhex maps.

Got to get the rivers shown to see how the trade routes work; originally in the 1980's I drew the rivers FIRST then figured out how far apart I wanted the main settlements - that told me how they all related to each other.

(I've got versions of parts of the area at 3-miles / hex, and the originals at 1-mile/square, so I more or less know what goes where at least. Just never filled in all of the connecting area before.)

(Since I am a very slow typist and have multiple notebooks of stuff to go through, I have bought Dragon Naturally Speaking to try to do speech-to -text transcription; we'll see how that goes. I'd like to at least get it into a legible form from my crabby handwriting that pretty much nobody else can decipher.)

100th Post! Scans of Old Hand-Drawn Maps!

For my 100th post on my blog, I have scanned a bunch of my old hand-drawn D&D maps from the 1980s and early 1990s.

Have a gander at my utter lack of drawing ability!

Due to the impending closure of the RPG Blog Alliance aggregator

http://rpgba.blogspot.com/2015/02/rpgba ... mment-form

I have been making a Big List 'O RPG Blog Site Links

https://almostoldschool.wordpress.com/b ... ite-links/

so I don't lose track of blogs I have found interesting and / or useful.

Work in progress; I will be adding more blog links and maybe improving how it looks over time.

Feel free to use the link list yourself.
